nisfan
In a bid to reduce my fleet i did what any self respecting shiter would do and i bought another car.Foad was going to buy it but since he had bought the proton the same day he let me have the honour. It was up for £150 and he accepted £100 as he just wanted rid as it didnt run because the engine was flooded and it had borewash.Got it back to FOADWERX and within 5 minutes it was running, it drives reasonably well and doubt it will need much for the MOT.Shit pictures but you get the idea, Worlds most boring interior, I need to get this sorted, theres a guy braking one that says he will sell the motor/linkage etc but does anybody know of a bodge for now? It doesnt pop on anymore. Dirk Diggler, ProgRocker, wuvvum and 29 others
Mr_Bo11ox
Wow thats exactly the same nylon bushes as on my Mazda 323, I had the same guff on that. I reckon you could chop a wiper linkage from any 90's jap heap and weld the complete end on (the nylon bushes are not removable from the metal bars) to get yours back in the game Lacquer Peel
Dirk Diggler
There lovely in 5 dr; there was a picture of a repair somebody did on here to a wiper linkage using fiberglass and cable ties; not pretty, but strong looking and easy done in situ
DodgyBastard
My idea for bodging it was to drill a hole in the nylon part then weld a bolt into the bit it pops onto then pop it together and stick a washer and a couple of nuts tightened against each other to hold it in position firmly but not too tight. tooSavvy, The Reverend Bluejeans and Jim Bell
Spottedlaurel
That looks alright. Indicators are on the proper side. I wonder how similar the wiper linkage is to one I have spare off a Camry? I had to swap the complete mechanism over on that, but that was because a spindle had jammed solid. I'll try to remember to dig it out and have look. RustReport?? ..... any tools? I was looking at 'how to's [leaky rocker cover] yesterday and a guy opened up a 4A-F Corolla, in the US, and says 'this is a 140k head, look at the cams - hardly run in... I know of a local one one on 350k'. We both haven't scratched the wax off these... lol 'What'll it do, Missta?' *breaking? TS Breaking is probably the wrong word, removing bits that aren't needed before smashing it up on the oval is closer to the truth. The same guy has a couple of Protons that he is "breaking" but when I asked about a pair of solid front wings he said I'd have to send my old ones to replace the ones he's taking off. tooSavvy
Dave_Q
I've had success with one of these things to hold the baggy joint together on my berlingo. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/172719449523 It's just a metal clip that goes over the bush thing and holds it onto the ball. scaryoldcortina and gordonbennet

You will find it totally boring, as you say, however [see debate on PCP] for half a months outgoings you get a car that will see 10+ years. Maaddnesss *kwalitee pogweasle going on there... nisfan
I quite cant believe how clean this car is, its a bit faded in places and is scratched as hell but is solid. Underneath it could be under 10 years old. All brake lines are this clean! Slight blow here which will need done for the mot Moar photoz including all the booklets and shiz which also incudes the build sheet! Should be perfect for winter, one of the cleanest cars ive got which is a bit ironic as its meant to be a beater oldcars, D Spares & Tyres, Eddie Honda and 15 others

Vince70
I would say you've won the WBOD that is an absolute steal. The only problem your now going to have is that you will find this car is too nice to use and next thing you know the wheel arch will be professionally repaired the car will be waxoyled and it will be stuck on a 3000 a year classic car policy then you've got to find yourself another car and before you know it you've ended up with a late 80s Toyota dealership on your drive. nisfan
I've always thought there's a bit too much white smoke coming out the exhaust even when warmed up and I put my hand over the exhaust and had a sniff ( smelled sweet), I read this could be hgf?No coolant has been lost and doesn't pressurise but when I took the oil cap off when running oil sprayed everywhere, this hasn't happened with other cars so I'm not sure if it's just the car or it's pressurising? DodgeRover
Just depends on where the filler cap is in relation to moving parts as to wether oil gets thrown out.No coolant loss and no mayo don't worry about it and keep a check on the oil level.Sweet smell could be the ethanol in the fuel? derskine
No mayo on dipstick, not pressurising - head gasket probably fine.
