dean36014
Just a tentative post to help my partners father out. He has a MX5 that's been off the road for approximately 6 years. The car was laid up due to the fact he had a tail happy moment in it and as he's getting on in years he struggled getting down into it. I've never seen this car but know it has a pearlescent purple paint job, bbs alloys, and a nardi steering wheel. Its definitely what you'd call a project and will probably need welding now. When parked up the roof was known to be good, but the seats are now mossy! What would something like this be worth, around 250/300? Logbook doesn't mention anything about it being an import. Sorry pictures aren't the best.Reg is L498GNY Date tested16 December 2010 PASS Mileage120,689 miles MOT test number4046 4055 0433 Test locationGRAIGWEN SERVICE STATION LTD PANTYGRAIGWEN ROAD PONTYPRIDD CF37 2RR Expiry date15 December 2011 Advisory notice item(s)Offside Front Brake pipe slightly corroded (3.6.B.2c)Offside Rear Brake pipe slightly corroded (3.6.B.2c)all brake pipes corrodingall flexy brake hoses ferrals rustingunderbody/chassis rusting What are advisories? Rave
I'm not an expert despite owning one myself, but I'm pretty sure that is an import Eunos Roadster. The BBS alloys are sought after, the more so if they're 15" ones. Shame they appear to be missing centre caps.I could be wrong though, can't see a similar model here: http://ox.mx5oc.co.uk/guide-eunosold.htm
dean36014
After finding out a little more it is a Eunos, does this mean its an import?
loserone
Yes, definitely an import. Not a bad thing!
dollywobbler
Indeed. Imports are generally better spec. If that was struggling for corrosion in 2008 though, and has been sat outside since, it doesn't sound ideal. Dick Longbridge
dean36014
Probably better as a parts car,but who knows about the underbody advisory. Might be an over zealous tester covering himself or it could indeed be roten.
Cavcraft
I think I sold mine for £270 to KfW and it still had a little test left on it.

Dick Longbridge
I'd say you're spot on with the valuation as a whole car. Worth more in parts though. It hit our salty roads in July 1999, so it's had a fair time for the ginger worm to have a decent nibble. What goes on with the metalflake paint - previous girly owner with more money than sense?! Agreed, if it's got BBS's & a Nardi wheel then it might be one of the multitude of limited edition cars Mazda released (almost every year). The colour would point at this too. People will pay a little more for that. I'd not totally condemn the condition of the thing on the strength of the MoT previous info. The Eunos often gets no more than surface corrosion on the underside which causes some testers who are more used to testing newer cars (under 7-8 years) to flap and start panicking. It's something that needs to be inspected properly.I suspect one or both of the aft sections of outer sill will be either starting to hole or be on the way - they all do that sir. If it is rusty and you don't want to restore it then £250-400 for parts/resto project car is about right, the Nardi & BBS's will sell very quick - in fact, I'll buy the Nardi if you are breaking it! I don't think many Mk1's get broken up any more, they tend to be restored or at least sorted/mended now. stephen01
dean36014
The car needs to go as a whole. No idea about the colour, it was that colour when bought. Logbook says black, i'm told its a sparkly dark purple, maybe it was standard? If anyone's interested make an offer and I'll pass it on. Rave
The BBS alloys and Nardi wheel point to it being one of the Japanese special editions, so it could well also be sporting a Torsen diff, Bilstein shocks and extra braces. All nice stuff to have. It looks most like an S-Special to me, but then it should have a spoiler. The colour is probably "Brilliant Black". Anyway I'd like it but it's too far away for me. If it can't be saved it'll break OK and/or make a donor for a MEV Exocet, I'm sure!
