Good to see this survived not being driven to that France over Christmas. I'm still up for popping over some time soon if you and the Mazz are up for a visitor?

Yes still good for a visit. Sorry it didn't happen over the Christmas period, it was all a bit busy!

Anyone fancy this for £375?  I've been ruminating whether to sell as its job of WBoD is almost done, so...

Good Bits

-Long MoT, expires 25th October

-62,800 miles

-Tidy exterior apart from the door (see bad bits).

-Mintola interior with lovely, strokeable velour.  The door cards in particular are nice to fondle.

-Cambelt done 3 years ago, albeit the previous owner has piled on 20,000 miles since, but well within interval.

-New battery and serviced when I bought it in October (oil, filters, plugs and coolant change).

-Easy to drive, clutch is feather light, heater is molten and has been reliable in the 3,000 miles I've done over the winter.  Always starts with no issue.

Bad Bits

-THE door.  Passenger rear near-side has a massive dent in it, and the glass is no more after I tried to punch the dent out and managed to shatter the window instead (idiot).  However, I've done a tidy bodge with some clear acrylic and gaffer tape and it seems to have held up well.  It managed to survive near gale force cross-winds whilst waiting at Calais docks for a ferry in November.

-Underneath is a bit rusty.  I treated most of it with Vatcan to stop if from getting any worse, and it's only surface.

-Revs like a bastard when started from cold, but soon settles down to a steady, even idle.

-Farting from the exhaust manifold.  More annoying than embarrasingly loud, but I've done the easy bit and bought the gaskets.  Just the small* matter of getting them done.

-Driver's leccy window not working.  Hasn't been a problem for me in the winter but it comes with a replacement mechanism and motor.

-A few giffer scrapes and the bonnet shut line isn't perfect as it's had a slight shunt in the past (slam panel is a bit bent but nothing major).

I'd rather try a straight sale to start with, but can't see it shifting quick so might go the roffle route eventually.

Hey that looks good! Even with the door damage it seems pretty cheap to me. What flavour is this, 2-litre pez? (cba reading back through the thread soz)

FWIW I think I've only ever driven one Japanese vehicle, and I hated it. GLWS!

Yep, 2 litre beater pez manual. It's actually quite a fun thing to drive on the twisties as it's pretty rapid and handles OK. Not so great on the motorway as it could do with a taller 5th gear, but still acceptable enough. I'm used to tall gearing in the Cavalier so most other stuff I've tried falls short in that respect.

Wonder how many 2018 Mazda 6s will survive in 2046?

Great cars, GLWS

I had a 1990 coupe in 2000 in champagne beige; I was 20 and didnt like it at the time; but what did 20 yr old me know, young Philistine that I was

Can still remember it's surprising mix of speed and economy; so many 90s petrol 2 litres were like that; backwards we've been going

Roffle would be amazing on this.

Let's fire up the rofflecopter then!  £6.50 a go.

Looking at stuff like this now you can see how ahead of the times it actulally was. How many Sierras are there about with reliability like that. The badge sadly precludes it from the same level of 'glory' a similar product from Ford or Vauxhall or even come think of it VW would have held back in the day.

Mine was Auto.. 4+ O/D .??

Recall the box being a FORD item?
