Probably, but there are literally thousands of posts of people asking whether they're interference or not. I'd probably be better off spending the effort getting the belt changed. After all, even if it doesn't destroy the engine, and failed belt still leaves me stranded. Can't have that in a car I'm relying on for business use. (albeit not too much business use with that thirst!)

Love these and have wanted one for ages. I'd love a late MK4/ Not such a fan of the 430 but the later 460 is  a good looker but hideously complicated. The 400s are the best pick. I wanted one instead of the KIA but insurance put me off rather (no no claims available) so the KIA was bought 'cos cheap to insure (£116 fully comp.... per year!) but I still want a Lexus.

 

Was looking at one and they are better specked than the Bentley, which is annoying as there was rather a large disparity in price, both new and now.

I'm a little disappointed with the spec to be honest. I can't find any trace of an on-board computer, which I would definitely have expected on this class and age of vehicle. Now I can only terrify myself with the economy by working it out on bits of paper. That's not very executive. Could be I just haven't found the right buttons yet. There are many.

The next-generation along has the on-board computer.

17-Coffees of this parish has one of them, and it also has a 5 speed auto 'box instead of the 4 speed. It has variable valve timing too, so has 10hp or so more.

The instant MPG readout is amusing. We were once cruising along the M6 toll at legal* speeds and found out that it does 29mpg with the wipers on at that speed, or 30mpg with the wipers switched off (as they retract down behind the trailing edge of the bonnet).

 

 

The idling issue is an odd one, and does only manifest itself when the engine is properly cold. It idles fine once warm, even if you shut it off then restart it again. It only really does 2,000rpm when it's properly stone-cold, i.e. when started for the first time that day.

Based on this, I have a suspicion that it might be an auto choke issue rather than an ICV one...

It had new oil, air filter and sparks before I bought it (June 2015).

 

Not sure who did what but I had it for six months and did only about 2 or 3k.

 

I'd say it's an interference on the basis that it has the slightly more modern gear shift; the 'facelifts' got this along with 20 more horsepower.

Injections don't have auto choke. They just boost the revs with the ICV and increase the injection timing.

Mason felt like an appropriate name for a pinko leftie socialist to give a 45k luxury car that they bought at the very bottom of its value curve.

 

In fact one of my first photographs of it at work is when I'd parked it up in the local Masonic Hall car park!

My RX300 revs it's tits off when it starts and then settles down quite quickly, once it's warm it just idles normally once you restart it, seems like it's a Toyota thing, ICV might just need a clean/Bearings lubed up.

 

They are a really good looking car, I had a P plate one in spotless Green and gold two tone plate blast past me on the M5 the other week, my RX300 is a big car but the LS400 is fookin massive, looked quite intimidating in the rear veiw mirror as it flew up behind me.
