Well today is the start of a little collection mission that probably won't be very exciting but it does involve a couple of ferries and a 250,000 mile Peugeot 806.

I found this rather fetching Peugeot 202 on Leboncoin to replace my 204 which is off to a new owner next week. It is down near Alencon so not that far and as it is a non runner a trailer is needed.

So what do you do when you are going to France with an 806 minus it's back seats and a nice big trailer ? You look for more shite to bring back. As most of you will know by now I have a bit of a thing for old French mopeds and 125's. So on my shopping list is this 1950's Monet Goyon.

monet starlette.jpg

monet starlette1.jpg

Which I am hoping I can get a deal on if he doesn't sell it before I get there. Luckily his son in law is English so I might be in with a chance.

Obviously there is still room for more bikes in the back of the 806 so these 2 will be coming home with me as well.

I did cheat a bit with these as I asked the seller of the 202 if he knew anyone with old bikes and his neigbour had these and accepted my lowball offer.

I collect the trailer this afternoon and will try to do some sort of live updating but don't hold your breath.

Finally our transport for the mission.

Hah! Nice. Very nice.

I'd have offered a coffee or overnight accom if I'd been there ( St Germain Du Corbeis)- a couple of miles west of centre) but I'm stuck in Belgie right now.

That looks a belter- envious. Hope it won't need too much tickling.

Have a good trip, and enjoy your few days ' en Continent'.

The 202 is a pretty little thing. I still add Monet Goyons to my eBay watch list as and when they appear, and recently discovered Magnat Debon. Sourcing one direct from its home has got to be the way though. Good luck!

Them yellow cubes from out of a proper old-school urinal are easy to sneak in and a better buzz than any modern chemical shit. Never done me any harm.

Nice one! 202s are great, I suspect you'll be doubling the UK population of saloons if you bring that one back. Shame somebody's painted the sides inappropriately, but you have the skills to take it back to black, no doubt.
Two things - they're woefully undergeared (flat out at 45 and screaming) and the handling is a bit unusual (read: scary) due to the very short wheelbase, although your one looks like a postwar car and they had a totally different suspension arrangement to the prewar models so maybe it's fine. They're good fun though, and dead simple

Well jel.  I LOVE 202s.  My first choice would be a 402L, but a 202 would be a thoroughly acceptable substitute.

It is one of the last made in 1949 so has the hydraulic brakes amongst the modern features. It is also the base model without sunroof. I did read a period road test from "motor" and they just said how good it was compared to British cars of the period saying it could cruise at 70 no bother, I now suspect they meant kph rather than mph. I actually like the burgandy and black colour scheme so it will be staying as long as it isn't in too bad condition

Found the article it was motorsport rather than Motor and it seems the writer quite liked his little 202

They're supposed to do 62mph but I can't see how the gearing would ever allow it. Definitely a nicer steer than a typical British 30s small car, so it's odd they never managed to sell any over here. Ours is probably the only rhd one left

Does the Pug have a heater?  Some of the late 202s did.  Ideal WBOD if so.

Well mechanically all is well so far but live updates isn't going to happen as my phone won't work with mobile data out here for some reason. Anyway car collected and 2 bikes but the guy with the Monet has let me down. Luckily I didn't go too far out of my way before he told me he had sold it to someone else. Never mind the other 2 are ok and the little Peugeot needs quite a few little jobs but overall is very tidy. I will post pics later if I can get my phone working again.

The seller found one and supplied the front and rear lights so I don't think it needs many bits just putting back together

Now I have a bit of time I better update the thread with pictures.

A nice little Renault spotted on the way back driven by a little old lady.

A really nice Cider at the all you can eat chinese buffet round the corner from our hotel.

IMG_20171008_115645.jpg

Mocktails on the boat on the way home. Thats enough food pictures time to get back to the action. The guy I bought the 202 from had a very interesting yard and might be interested in selling some of his tat. He has a 604 out the front with a for sale sign but as my other half was taking the pictures she missed that one.
