Had a bit of an OMG! moment when I saw these old pictures on a Client's desk, and as we needed them anyway it seemed rude not to get them scanned in...

Site is listed on an old OS plan as a "Transport and Plant Hire Depot". It hasn't been that for some 20-30 years, but it is still industrial and the house has sadly gone. In fact, only one building seems to remain out of everything you see here.

E-Type belonged to the chap who still owns the site. I've never met him, so don't know what became of the Jag.

Humber in the garage? This building (also visible in the above shots) is the only one still remaining, our meeting was right where that car sits. It too will go when the next phase of development takes place.

Can't beat a mangy dog tied to the back of an old van. Must be guarding the treasures that lie beyond, including that American car in the background. Apologies the scans aren't great, but the paper was quite grainy.

Odd roof on the Land Rover.

Several BMC vans. Estate in the middle is interesting, an old Austin?

Anyone offer advice on the estate behind the rusty Mini? I thought something American, my boss reckoned Vauxhall. I had to flip this image, it had been printed back-to-front.

Contact sheets, showing one or two pic's not included above.

Got to wonder what gems were lurking in those old sheds. Ayway, love the little bit of history these portray.

Those photos are the absolute cats twat. Magnificent stuff, thanks for sharing them. That fifties estate is stunning - I bet it was nicely 'run in' by the time the picture was taken in 1973 too!Love the Anglia van too. If only you could buy a scruffy-but-usable example of one of those today. Ditto the other commercials on the site.

Actually, even I read it as saying BMW! Now suitably spaced-out...Well done for the input on the mystery vehicles. One of the lorries (not trucks!) is a Thames I think? I have a great mental picture of them, grinding round the rural roads, through non-bypassed towns and villages, taking a load of livestock to or from the auctions and spewing clouds of smoke.Apart from that one workshop building that’s now an office, there’s no hint that any of this once existed. All seem to have been replaced by newer industrial buildings.

At least three rusty/shagged Minivans there. That reminded me of what scrapyards were like in the late seventies - looooaaads of Mini Vans, all rusted to buggery. I can almost make out the registration number on one of them on the first page. They're so rare now and £££££ to match. Is the E Type (A V12) one of the black last editions from 1974/5?

Love the old Commer TS3'sTheir two stroke diesel engines made a noise like no other vehicle before or since - like someone on speed hammering an anvil. How the drivers stood it for hours on end I don't know.I remember them ploughing up the M1 in the '60s as we overtook them in my dad's Anglia van ( about the only thing we overtook). All gone now along with the Fodens, ERFs, Atkinsons etc - all lorries now seem to be either Mercs, Scanias or Volvos - they are quite though.
