Collection from Bolton-ish to Milton Keynes-ish - Now complete.

Hi all.

ren12ts has kindly offered us a new front bumper for Bob the Renault 6 of "Renault 6 rescue" fame.

However he is in Westhoughton near Bolton and we are near Milton Keynes.

It is obviously a bulky item, hence expensive to post, but he is in no hurry to move it on and we are not desperate for it.

It is about 1.5 metres long so will probably need a reasonably large vehicle to transport it.

If anyone would be willing to collect it for us sometime and get it to somewhere near MK we would be extremely grateful.

Any offers?

If so I will PM him for his exact location.

Stop press - Now with reduced mileage quotient.

Mr. Six-cylinder of this parish is planning to visit strangeangel in Huddersfield on the 22nd of this month and has kindly agreed to pick up the new Bob bumper for me if I can get it there.

Would anyone be willing and able to move it from ren12ts in Westhoughton to strangeangel in Huddersfield (HD8) before this date?

From the map this appears to be about 40 miles, but I'm sure you know better than I do where these exotic places are.

Any offers gratefully received.

TIA.

We may be able to help with this.

I am buying Sport Shites Clio for my brother so will be over Bolton Way. Bucketeer has a homing instinct for Hudderfield so potentially could drop it over there.  I assume it will fit in a vel satis?

I'll pick it up if you want, to save you the (very short) trip.

Sorry chaps.

Only just picked up The Moog's & sporty-shite's offer posts.

I don't have ren12ts address or contact details so have PM'd him for them

Hope he replies before the Moog deadline.

If he does I will PM The Moog & sporty-shite his address.

I assume Moog or Bucketeer already have strangeangel's address?

I am sure it will fit in a Vel Satis no problem. Luxury transport!

Thanks again to all involved for their assistance.

I've had a voicemail from Ren, but haven't called him back yet, as I'm not sure what's going on. He's ridiculously close to SPORTY_TOWERS, so much so that I could easily walk there to get the bumper.

If someone could PM me Strangeangel's contact details, I can probably get this over to him before 22nd October. I need one dry day to fix the Alfa, and am working Mon- Thurs next week. Otherwise, there's a strong possibility I can fit this in.

Collection now complete and Bob has a new bumper,

Just to enhance the Frenchness, both the front and the back bumper are identical in size and shape, so you would assume that they are interchangeable, but no.

Mr. Renault decided to make different brackets for the front and rear so that he could move the outer mounting bolts for the back bumper inwards about three inches compared to the front. Logic would dictate that they should be the same for ease of manufacture, economies of scale in manufacturing and parts stockholding, but Frenchness decrees that they should be made different for no other reason than "parce que nous pouvons", or "because we can" to the non-French.

Many thanks go to ren12ts, sporty-shite, strangeangel and Six-cylinder for their seamless delivery of this item from door to door with sod all effort on my behalf and to all the others who offered to help. In a world of seemingly increasing selfishness and cynicism, your willingness to help for no reward restores my faith in human nature. I hope I can return the favours in the future.

To be fair, I did get a reward, in that I got up close and personal with ren's lovely 17.
