To Keep or to sell? 316i compact with pics

These are the car that the New Mini could have been.

Didnt they come to exist because BMW found themselves without a competitor to the Audi A2 and Merc A Class when prestige brands went all small car on us? I never heard good things about these but that one looks well fab.

They were made to entice folk out of rubbish like the Golf Mark 3, Escort and Astra, and get them into the BMW fold.

I wouldn't sell this, but just keep it nice and run it. They are pleasant enough to drive and very easily fixable, yet worth very little. An ideal reason not to sell it - it's more useful than the 500 quid you might get for it. As for a fucking Volvo 340.............Jesus.......get a grip!

I have been running it the last day or two, its superb. I dont think i would be exagerating to say it feels brand new to drive, it even smells new. It wont be sold for £500 thats for sure, i perhaps paid over the odds, but it is a much better car than any off the £567 hundred quid ones in my opinion of course. :)

E36s are one of the last few cars where they are still a great drivers car even in base 316i form.

I've had 2x e36s, one in Boston Green like this and it's a colour that really grew on me once polished up but it's not a very desireable model or colour unfortunately, so you'd only attract buyers if cheap, for what it's worth I'd keep it on the fleet so it's not ruined by a 'drifter y0'

The Rev is right I can vouch for Halfords Boston green.

I bought a can for a bad passenger side front corner scuff which also damaged the fog light and bumper trim on my old E36 and I managed an invisible repair.

I was so tight that I bought the primer and lacquer from pound land and the bumper strip I got off eBay for £1.50

I painted mine during winter as well but I did use a hairdryer to dry the paint between coats.post-9282-0-93908000-1506358436_thumb.jpg

Try it on car and classic perhaps? I’ve had good results on there in the past. Plus it’s more of an enthusiast site so you don’t tend to get the morons you get on the likes of Gumtree.
