Found these pics of the place (now long since pulled down to make way for a windswept boarded up precinct) from the 60s, incorporating some lovely period shite

wow....... home.. I was born Newcastle, but lived in Ryton when I was young, early 80's but some things never change.

I gotta be honest - I think cooling towers look fantastic.....I'm also interested in any large scale industrial stuff that is disused.

They levelled the top of the slag heap off many years before they shut the power station down, and then demolished it. Token effort to please the environmentalists I think :)

I know what you mean. The 2 iconic ones at the side of the M1 opposite Meadowhall are due for demolition any day now I believe. Rather sad.
