A few highlights. I'm not a Citroenist but I am starting to see the appeal of spheres and LHM and DIRAVI and other odd French things.

That cx trd isn't what it seems. Trd wasn't sold in the U.K., it was called DTR and not badged with turbo bits( not turbo Ts on the front wings, bonnet or c pillars) , and according to the mot history check it's a petrol. Petrols also had metal door handles, and the diesels black plastic ones.

That car is a petrol turbo, possibly with a new bootlid, or just a badge.
Petrol turbos had the black plastic window surrounds, diesels had stainless with tape covering the vertical sections. Diesels have a single exhaust pipe, petrols two.

Weird. I knew about the DTR/TRD thing cos TRD sounds like turd so that badge obviously isn't original. According to the vehicle enquiry site it's a diesel and all the reg check sites say DTR. I'm sure DTR Turbo 2 is a thing as there was another one badged as such.

Yes, TRD was French only.
Oh, there certainly are DTR Turbo 2 about. Sold from 1987 just that isn't ( or wasn't originally) one. Quite intriguing really! The longest Cx badge by the way is the " cx 25 TRD turbo II Limousine" almost makes it all the way to the boot lock!

I have just been reminded Adam about your comment that an XM was Alex Moulton's favourite car and had to Google it.

http://www.aronline....en-xm-for-sale/

It was for sale a few years back though a bit salty.

Dr Moulton seemed to think it was worth 6 grand in 2009   Methinks he was a tad optimistic. Wonder what happened to it.

That is bizarre and proves the vehicle enquiry and MOT history sites run off different data. Everywhere else I've checked (DVLA, Cartell, Cazana) all say it's a diesel DTR. I'm starting to think it started out as a petrol and has been retrofitted with a diesel engine and TRD badge, or a DTR rebuilt into a petrol shell, or something like that.

I sort of wish I'd been bothered to go to this now, looks alright.

This is Moulton's last XM, spotted in sussex a few months ago. It's in safe hands.
