michael t
Been almost a year since I updated this absolutely exceptional spotting thread fairly mediocre spottage thread. Enjoy... Shiters, any idea if this Saxo is a legit special edition or just a dealer sticker job?? Few shots from Liverpool back in January '18 below... michael t
Had a rare weekday off work last Friday and decided to venture to the suburbs of North Dublin which are still a rather rich hunting ground for chod. My tactics are fairly simple, hunt down housing estates that are 30+ years old and crawl through surveying every driveway for 'talent'. I'm sure it looks extremely odd if not slightly suspicious when you see a car creeping up to your driveway with a camcorder poking out of the window eagerly taking rapid snaps of the 1994 Honda Civic you've had on the drive since Eamon passed away 15 years ago but fear not, the pictures are relayed to a few weirdos enthusiasts on a motoring forum who lust over most things pre-1997... Ovlov in Mornington. Co. Louth. Late, clean 25 in Newry, Co. Down, shame Rover died shortly after this was built. Always though the facelift 25 was quite a looker.. This time a few years back I wouldn't have looked at this twice. They're slowly but surely disappearing now so and still mostly giffer owned. Absolutely nothing Charismatic about this Carisma.. I could hear those rear arches fizzing.... Dirk Diggler
mk2_craig
Great effort! Your modus operandi is the same as mine was the year I lived in Leicester. Do like that F reg Lancer. Sierra also. Is there a way of telling with the 87 on registration whether something is "imported" later than the year on the plate? Not sure if that makes sense, I presume they start at e.g. 94-D-1 and just keep going up in numbers? michael t
michael t
This Disastra and the white Volvo above shared the same driveway, whoever owns them should be on here.... Spottedlaurel
IMAG0048.JPG Unexpected surprise as I turned the street corner. Looked to have been there for quite a while... Hey, I recognise that car! 1973 Ford Cortina 1600 Mk3 by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr It was owned by some local people I vaguely knew and it'd been in the family since new I believe. When I heard how cheaply they sold it for (about £1000 from memory, cheap for a decent Mk3 even then) I was disappointed I hadn't gone for it myself. My photo was taken in 2007 and DVLA shows it with an export marker and untaxed since 2008 so it looks to have been in Ireland for 10 years now. Do like that Cressida in a later update, they're great-looking things. I remember that metallic bronze colour being common on them. michael t
Decided to drive into Dublin again today to continue documenting the automotive stalwarts that still survive.. Few years off being "total shite" but I was surprised to see one of these on a 2004 plate. Utterly shite picture, 1997 plate on this basic Punto Still plenty of these Starlets and the above MK4 Fiesta's survive over here You could've eaten your dinner of this, spotless!! michael t
Wee spin up to Belfast yesterday, I was expecting a colossal shite fest, on par or perhaps exceeding what Dublin offers every time I visit. How wrong I was... There was very little to feed on. Maybe I visited the wrong parts or was 10 years too late. Anyhow this is what I saw... michael t
After the disappointment of my trip up to Belfast last Thursday I decided a restorative trip to the shite haven of South County Dublin was in order and.... it certainly did not disappoint!! Still a fairly common site, well and truly hewn from granite. First spotted this grimy looking Disastra on Streetview Almost certainly giffer owned This beauty is the first 19 I've ever seen over here in the wild. Made my day! GTI no less... This 1989 205 has been sitting here for at least 10 years Rathfarnham in south County Dublin is jammed full of old giffers. Everywhere I looked there was tat of some description milling about Whoever owns this is a bit of a mid-90's Rover apologist. 4 other 200 series cars in and around the garden. Same house that these 2 were parked outside had a superb Mk1 Escort in the front garden. Old fella looking curiously out the window at me snapping piccies meant I made a swift departure without a picture, sorry... Wonderfully old Clio, giffer piloted of course Truly abandoned and knackered old Audi, according to Streetview it's been that way for around 10 years. Sadly there was no sign of the French fancies next door. Sad to see a Sporting go to waste. Would command respectable coinage even in this condition

michael t
Shame to see this lying up. Mad to think people can leave stuff like this lying around for years just wasting away. Oooff! ZX!! Lovely 405 estate, rare sight sadly. Spotted this fantastic little Mazda 121 on Streetview a few weeks back. I just had to see it in the flesh! Bloody hell I'm tired after all of that. Quite possibly the best days shiting I've ever had. South Dublin in particular seems to have its own mini micro-climate of shite.
