richardmorris
"They arrived in a whatever car"HelpfulWhatever they could get their hands on perhaps? If it took them twenty minutes to Hotwire a 2cv they're pretty hopeless too. Just spread the word please - 2cvers are waking up to the fact that their cars are now worth enough money to steal. richardmorris
hope they get it back. Me too. The thing is it's not worth as much in parts so they'd need to sell it on as is. As with many people on this site, 2cvers do have a sentimental attachment to their cars that goes beyond mere money. oldcars
Squire_Dawson
Was a Disklok fitted? I know they are awkward and cumbersome but they really do deter the opportunist scrote. Secret switches are also good. Craig the Princess

These scumbags don't give a damn about the destruction they cause.

Secret switches are also good. All I know is in the photo I'm sorry. I have a very old crook lock on mine. That doubles as a martial art weapon too. Plus a battery cut off and other security Personally I've always taken comfort in the fact that none of my cars are remotely desirable to thieving scumbags. Seems that's changed. One thing that's a bit upsetting is that no-one new to a 2cv knows how to change gear. So they have knowledge of them.
carlo
Blimey. I might have to re-connect my key pad immobilisor in twenty years when Peugeot 405s are worth something. Junkman
richardmorris
Unless it's targeted you don't need to make your car ( or equally bicycle) impossible to steel, you need to make it more difficult to steel than your neighbour's. A bit like the lion chasing two guys. One says to the other, can you outrun a lion? I don't have to, I just have to outrun you he replies!

eddyramrod
They're going from strength to strength, you know. Awful news about the 2CV, let's hope it turns up in one piece. If the scrotes turn up, I have a Mafia staff car they can go for a short ride in, without sampling the comfy seats if you know what I mean! alcyonecorporation, richardmorris and Junkman

Secret switches are also good.Totally agree with "secret switches". I have one and don't understand why others don't. I've even persuaded a friend with an Evoque, yeh I know, to fit one because its a "high value" thing and are pretty easy to steal, despite factory isolators etc. Easy to do and "peace of mind" as they like to say these days. Would recommend to my friends. All four of them. lisbon_road, egg, tooSavvy and 1 other
stripped fred
Reminds me of old landrovers. My mate restored one over 20 years ago. Cost him a couple of grand all in as he did it properly, new chassis etc. It's worth a bloody fortune now so he's had to buy one of those steel post things to prevent it getting nicked. richardmorris
richardmorris
I'be thought about a garage door lock for the fiat, but it does advertise that there's something inside worth stealing.

They are a cost effective way of keeping scum from your pride and joy. I put one in front of the garage door after scrotes broke the side window on a recce. Defo recommended. Here's hoping the 2CV turns up unharmed, and the vermin who stole it die.

Jerzy Woking
Holeshot Racing had their van with two turbo charged Suzuki Hyabusa drag bikes and a few special pushbikes in the back. Scumbags must have realised that the bikes were going to be too recognisable to get rid of, so the van was found dumped within two hours. Completely burnt out. Thieving cunts deserve all they get - and there is no doubt they will be found and dealt with.
