theshadow Posted August 23, 2017 Share Posted August 23, 2017 picked up fri,had months mot left, sat did a new mot at the usual place passed fine,usual noise from timing chain area its at 83000,got a lucas chain kit from euro,than stripdown commenced 12 monday,ie remove remove rocker cover,airfilter housing than thermostat,water got everywhere,than unbolted waterpump looked newish,than undone bolts timimg cover,removed the 3 bolts from sump,sod removing the whole sump,,tues time to put back together the lucas kit seems to be cheap chinese kit sold on ebay the timing chain gasket was slightly out,carefully had to realign it to get it fit,put waterpump etc back,topped up radiator,it leaked,i forgot to put the top hose,than for magic moment of startup,no start,triple checked every thing,coilpack connections,got out code reader,rear crankshaft sensor had let go,eurocarparts sensor ihass £11.09,now purring again,why that sensor packed up,and it was harder one to remove...yes i did remember to oil filter change,only had various oil to put in it 10w 40,5w,needs must..central locking to sort out, scuffed bumpers etc...
