purplebargeken Posted August 18, 2017 Share Posted August 18, 2017 Am buying my mates surplus to requirements 1.4 Kangoo (V or W reg). He will have it MOT'd for me. For this to happen a small amount of welding will be done on the sills, a couple of tyres for the back end and that is about it. As like most of the recent vehicles in my life, this has been a dog owners car. The owner was also a heavy smoker. The drivers side wing and front of the bonnet has a couple of dings. It isn't as bad as it sounds but the local Albanian car wash will get the pleasure of giving it an initial scrub and vacuum. The engine bay could do with a steam clean. Pets at Home will be a source of enzyme cleaning fluid. It needs a new window winder handle. The number plate lights work but the thing is held on with tape. It needs a pair of sun visors. £250 all sound ok? I said 'yes please' at that. He was just going to weigh it in. So. Apart from the little odds and sods as mentioned above, what else would be handy to utilise in such a situation. I have an inflatable single mattress somewhere.I also have a big feck off spare 12v battery too. I'd expect a bottle of plonk thrown in at that price what with dents and filth, unless there's months of test remaining... but that's the beauty of chod, nobody's going to lose much even if it all goes spectacularly wrong. Horse shit and dog hair mostly. The interior was stripped and jet washed with TFR twice before anyone could sit in it. Everything. Seats, carpets, door cards... He even scrubbed the dash with bleach. Nothing fancy like a 50" plasma and dishwasher, just an MDF bed and a set of curtains. Camping stove to cook basics on and soon. Storage bins ofsome type. Lighting? Privacy stuff? What about a split charging system for laptop? Ablutions via local sports centres and so on. Despite them all being shit, the zafira makes a cracking camper, in fact I'm posting this right now from my single bed in the back of mine!!!! You have to remove the middle row of seats though as they don't fold properly flat, (btw these weigh about 18 tons!!!)dark smoke/limo tint the rear windows, a set of blackout curtains and a bungee to toggle between the two b pillars and its really comfy. The passenger seat folds completely flat which is really handy, there's loads of cubbies everywhere to keep your stuff and because it's a car rather than a Van you already have the insulation etc. Been staying in mine for work now for the last 5 months pretty much, no complaints at all. Plus most of them have a sunroof which is immense, crack it open and you get a nice cool breeze. Airbeds are ok but there's a few sharp edges to get a puncture with and then you'll get no sleep at all!!! I bought a single mattress for £45 from IKEA, fits perfick. Put it this way, I went to sleep Sunday after an admittedly busy weekend of driving, working and generally tiring myself out and I slept the full 12hrs in it!!!! I have the Toledo, now the Galaxy which is a more reasonable option for camping on occasion than the LWB Transit, ace thing that it was. The Kangoo just needed saving and will be cleaned up. I may keep it, I may not. The 340 is up for sale, and the Beetle should be going to its new home next week. The Golf? No-one seems to want it which is a shame as it is a lovely thing really.
