spike60
As I said a couple of weeks back I'm looking to sell my 1989 Merc 300se. I bought if from a farm in 2015 where it had sat since 2008 with a knackered exhaust, I got it through it's test fairly painlessly then started using it to see what I had. It's been a dependable old bus covering 3000 miles last year and probably is more presentable than show winner, it has some bubbling on the rear quarters and the passenger wing seems a later poorer quality addition, - more later. The velour interior is pretty good with a few grubby marks and a small hole by the rear armrest, -mouse I'm told! It has ditchfinders with excellent tread, as far as I know all the electrics work although the rear screen, ariel and puddle lights are all a bit shonky and it has a JVC with 12 disc stacker. On my watch it has had MB exhaust centre box, prop joint, cam gasket, intake boot and 2 wheel trims. It's also had a temp sensor, dizzy cap, leads, rotor arm, ignition barrel, a set of Bilstein shock absorbers and a set of new Bosch injectors. I bought the ARB bush for the drivers front as it knocks but it's still in the box, I also had grand plans for underseal when I serviced this year but not likely at the mo. It feels from a different era and is a long way from a hot hatch, it's not a slow car but does steady better than hurry! I recently found out it is a cat D, I think this probably explains the passenger front wing but I don't know how much it matters at 28 years old and 198k miles!Sorry for wamping on but trying not to miss owt that matters. Some pics taken 2 weeks ago, they probably flatter it a bit, I can take more if wanted. It is1989, 198k miles, uses no fluids, 20/01/2018 MOT and is pretty basic except for the sunroof and electric column and still has it's phone gubbins including the aerial on the rear screen! £925. The car is in Redcar, Cleveland, NE England. Cheers, Spike. Cavcraft, ProgRocker, Uncle Jimmy and 20 others

spike60
Thanks but no swaps at the moment, the plan is to reduce the fleet of old cars. Partly practicality, partly my crocked body. If nowt else I can't be seen working on cars when I'm off sick.
Tamworthbay
My father in law had one of these, I ended up looking after it for him for six months while he worked away. It was a brilliant car, so comfortable on a long drive and just a properly nice place to be. Old mercs only go up in value. Cavcraft

The standard cloth, isn't it? I like the W126, they're such handsome cars. Good luck with the sale.
spike60
Fabric on the centre section and velour on the bolsters and sides. I though it was standard but don't really know.

It is the standard cloth - you could have a velour interior at (great) extra cost.
DodgyBastard
That looks great for wafting around in, it's exactly the kind of thing I've been looking for but much like yourself I'm trying to have less cars rather than more.
Lord Sterling
FARK! I'd love this to a) Get back into Mercs and b.) Have a W126 as I love the shape. But as always, finances are against me.

The Reverend Bluejeans
Not a fan of these at all, but that looks sweet enough for a grand.
spike60
Hi. Do yiu still have the Merc? Those look like original Merc overmats which is always a good sign...will it drive ok? Cheers....Yea, Merc still with me. The drivers side mat has Mercedes logo across the heel pad, I think they're original. It drives well, it's done about 1600m since the MOT at the end of Jan and just had plugs, cap, leads and brand new Bosch injectors to cure a start up misfire. It did. Not cheap, but it did!It regularly does a 120m round trip to visit my son without incident.
lesapandre
Where are you based? I'm in London. I'll consult the piggybank. Its a good colour and late for a W123...right near the end of production

kinkersaab
come on then. lets see some pics of the bad bits...see if i can be tempted...
spike60
As I said earlier, it was alway more presentable than show winner at 28 years old and 200k but here are some dings and scabs! It came from a farm and they're great for random scuffs and biffs. The original pics were taken in July, but as requested here's tonights close up of an unwashed car.The only bit that has changed on my watch is the VAG stylee NSF wheel arch bubbling, the rest are pretty static. Random ding NSF wing Belb by rear screen rubber covered by bootlid when shut. Shelf fine. Scrape on NSR bumper on plastic under chrome. Bubbling NSR arch/quarter. VAG style NSF arch bubbles, suspect wing relatively recent and not well painted. Small scabs by OS light wiper, random small ding on bumper. Small bleb OSF wing. NSR quarter. These are close ups of the bad bits, as a whole it's presentable and the paint polishes well. The bits not pictured are fine, doors, bonnet, boot rear panel etc. It's good under the sill covers too. In the 2 years I've had it the bodywork is untouched except for soap and polish. flat4alfa
