£450 - no MOT, no reverse gear, but it's brown and tax exempt. Just push the thing back if you need to, it won't be that heavy, stop being a wuss.

This would be a better wedding car, at least it's clean and tidy.

That's mine, that is. I should really fix the reverse, whack an MoT on it and sell it for a lot more, but to be perfectly honest I'm fed up with the bloody thing - I've had it nearly a year and got about three weeks' use out of it, not to mention the hundreds I've spent on it.

I actually don't find the steering that bad at all - I reckon if anything it's lighter than my last 2000TC. Bloody good lock too.

If it doesn't generate any interest by the weekend (and if I get a minute between putting the Austin Ten engine back together and hopefully going over the Alpine) I'll stick it up on ramps and see if I can find a spring to fit. I know for a fact it'll go straight through a test once this is done as I've got the failure and everything on it has been sorted.

That is bloody cheap. I've had two 166s, they're good cars - great to drive and surprisingly good build quality for an Alfa. I'm going to be keeping an eye on that one.

You're probably right. The SLC is always bargainous compared to the SL, which makes it the shite choice. I'd have one. Only problem there is that if it's rotten (and they do rotten surprisingly well) then you could have a bit of a mare trying to get some MoT to enable you to flog the reg number.

1982 Ford Cortina 1.6 GL

I think this is pretty much my dream Cortina - a MK5 1.6 GL with the dartboard/trim ring combo. They've even shined the tyres up and parked it at a sporty angle. I wouldn't usually go for this colour, but I am quite nostalgic about that shade of blue, reminds me of the really crummy low-spec MK3 Escorts that my mate's stepdad would buy at the auctions to do up and sell from home.

Posted Image

No trim level! Must be a base. This is exactly the sort of crummy low-spec Escort I'm on about, though it'd be nowhere near this nice. Or even this slightly darker shade of blue.

You know when Richard Pryor nicks off with one of these at the end of Silver Streak? I wonder whether he drives back to Kansas City to get that Jag he nicked earlier, or just keeps the X1/9 in lieu of it.

Check out that lacquer peel, it's like a California import. I seem to remember something about paintwork issues on silver BL cars of that era. I'm sure Watchdog or someone will have got into a right strop about it.
