That's a superb way to go about things, isn't it? I'm not looking forward to doing the rest of the paint on the Stanza, might just die instead. Just thinking of all that sandpaper annoys me.

So how does something like that pass inspection/emissions laws, is there some kind of age-related exemption in certain states?

Indeed state based exclusions on age of vehicle, that one's in Ohio and it looks like emissions testing is a bit of a joke for stuff older than 1995 - if you can just get it 30% better (no matter how bad it was) or if you spend $200 trying (even with no improvement) you can get a waiver for the 2 year cycle.....or so says the loacl DMV http://www.epa.state... ... extem.html

Ah, cheers for that, I wondered how something with an A-series engine (which must chug out something like Strontium 90 compared to catalyst-equipped Yank chod) would be allowed in!

In a lot of states when a car is 25 years old then you can import them no problem at all. Some states don't have inspections or emissions checks either. I wanted to import a Skyline (under 25 years old ) back in 2002 but it would have cost me $25,000 just to get the paperwork done via a "registered importer" what a crock of shite!
Tell it like it is...NOT how it should be ;)

MK2 Escort FO'SHO'.What makes it look weird, apart from the eye-stabbingly awful bodykit and Subaru rear wong, are the rear lights. I wonder what they are from? They are a lot larger than the standard units.

Blimey that's an early one. The colour suits it really well like that Terracotta they first came in - really period.

Actually when I was little a neighbour had a Mk2 van in that blue and it absolutely stank on hot days. There must have been some rancid chemical in that shade of paint!

To make some space for my collection which is far too big.

Yeah, well, with aiming to own an example of every spec/engine size combination of a mass market car at the same time, you will get that....
