Owain-328i
Heres a good one, a RHD Chevy blazer with 2wd and a 2.2 Ecotec engine! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1998-CHEVROLET-OPEL-BLAZER-2-2-VAUXHALL-RED-TOP-ENGINE_W0QQitemZ220337724322 Bit of a funny face like, are they all like that?Hmmmmm looks very nicely specced up inside. However i dont think it would e much cop for trailering and towing, i reckon that 2.2 is a tad weedy to haul the thing about myself. Shame it isnt a 3.0 litre TD Auto. Still, top marks to them for going on a charity rally in a Xantia Estate, they must have been very brave driving all that way in a vehicle that looks to be in pretty smart condition. Nice job! I find this all the time, my Mk1 Golf GTi only cost £600 10 years ago and has been fully restored since so does that mean if I ask more for it I'm adding scene tax? pandamonium
Scene tax means that a car is expensive because of what it is, not what it is worth. VW campers are the best example of this - the equivilent vehicle from another manufacturer tends to be cheaper.
pogweasel
Capri's don't seem to get loaded with 'scene tax' though. Good ones make good money but that's true of any classic. Only the 'brooklands' ones seem to trade for real daftness for a run-out special editions. RS3100's deserve to make good bread. Escorts are the real 'scene tax' fiends. £2000 for ropey 1100L shells is just silly.
Mash
and pov spec escort http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1987-FORD-ESCORT- ... 240%3A1318Do you know, I actually really like this! OK it's done a few miles but you could bosh any engine in it when it goes pop I suppose. It's not out of the way price wise for a practical little car that doesn't appear to need any bodywork doing. If I was looking for a cheap runabout I'd be pressing the button I reckon. Could be a bit further away though!

Pillock
When you say "Scene Tax" do you really mean "Not as cheap as they used to be and I don't want to pay that much?". I find this all the time, my Mk1 Golf GTi only cost £600 10 years ago and has been fully restored since so does that mean if I ask more for it I'm adding scene tax?Not at all, a proper restoration adds loads to the value so I'd fully expect to pay a darn sight more than £600 for your Golf :)Scene tax to me would be you buying a running but tatty Mk1 GTI for £600, smoking around in it, failing to do basic jobs on it, primering a few rust spots and then realising advertising it as 'ratlook' or somesuch crap would net you triple what you paid. As gopweasel said, the prime example is Mk2 Escort shells with no running gear, glass or interior going for more than you'd pay Carcraft over 5 years for a Zafira. They're nothing more technically than a Marina but 10x the price. And compare VW Type 2 prices to a Sherpa, CF or Commer that does the same job. 10x again. Pillock
Have some nice unmolested stuff from me..... Two owners, original radio, wheeltrimz and dealer logo'd plates. No rust or welding. Really, REALLY like these in this condition. Not cheap at £780 though. Clean but not suspiciously so. Tattier but cheaper. Bonnet looks dull and there's wag in the rear arch but I used to lust after these in the CARS brochure when my ma got her Escort. Electric everything. Click through if you like ***** random asterisks *****. Doesn't look as tidy as he thinks it does, plenty of blebs on the arches. Still like the solid colour over grey look though. Three hundred?! "I don't know much about cars but I think it needs a clutch or driveshaft or something, it has no biting point". I'd value that at, ooooh, £15/tonne. Plenty of intact ones out there for that price. Look at all that chod slowly disintegrating. Heaven! He certainly is. That's the bloke I bought my JU250 van off - he's got quite a collection of fit-for-scrap tat round the back of his barn, and some pretty interesting stuff inside too, including a Morris J-series milkfloat and a spotless Bedford CF2 van. Oh, and then the several hundred grands' worth of old British bikes he's got in his other barn. Decent bloke too.
