Ebay tat

If it was me I'd jsut carry on running it about on the Italian plates - a bit of a legal grey area, admittedly, but if the Poles and Lithuanians can get away with it, there's no reason why anyone else shouldn't.

Some countries adopt 12 months as the threshold that defines whether one is a visitor or a resident. Beyond that you need to get a driving licence in that country and have the vehicle registered there. I wouldn't feel comfortable masquerading as Giuseppe on holiday with a non-Italian licence in my pocket. Unless I took lessons in feigning broken English. Not sure what the script is with international permits though. Why doesn't your potential buyer consult a vehicle transportation firm? The cost might be a lot less than he would think.

Sheeittt, a pre-facelift 'Rizon. Can't begin to tell you how many years it's been since I saw one. Gotta be on about the same scarcity level as Regie Ritmo's Renner 14.

They facelifted it? :shock::oops:

Come to think of it I've heard B & C reg Horizons described as Series 2's but I couldn't tell you what they updated!

Wasn't someone on about one of these?

Dunno, but they blimmin well should be! How rare is that! Can't believe it's newer than my 14 and only a year older than my Ritmo! Sandwiched between them infact. It looks so dated by comparison!

Gotta be worth the work though! Doubt it will go for much.

DANG!!!385 quid!!! Looks like I might actually make a profit for once (I paid £112 for it). The buyer is from Germany though, so don't know how he's intending to get it home. And I hope he understands that "quite a lot of welding" does mean "quite a lot of welding" - as Baz will testify, the old girl does need, erm, quite a lot of welding. Frankly I value the old heap at around £250, but hey, if someone wants to pay me half as much again for it, I'm not going to stop them... Let's just hope it all goes ahead smoothly - the chap has quite good feedback, but he does have a couple of negs for non payment from a couple of years ago. Let's hope he can weld too. Or maybe he can teach his grandson Adrian to do it for him...

A friend of mine sold a TR7 on ebay to a german buyer-he brought a set of his own german numberplates with him-fitted them outside the house and drove home on them. He made it into germany before it broke down which wasnt bad for a car 2 years off road due to bad mot failure

I sold my Vauxhall Ten to a German, but he sent a transport company to pick it up for him. Previous to that the only car I'd sold to one of our teutonic cousins was a 1982 Range Rover fitted with a 2.5-litre Peugeot turbo diesel that had been off the road for five years and smoked like a bar steward. I was going to put it back on the road but with me being younger then and it being a "modified vehicle" I couldn't insure it (I didn't have the trader's policy back then). The chap jumped on an Easyjet flight to Stansted, got the bus from there to Norwich, got to mine at 1am, jumped into the Rangie and drove off to find a hotel. The next day he drove to a small town about 15 miles north of here to pick up an ex-military 109" Land Rover he'd also bought. He hitched this to an A-frame (which he'd ordered and had delivered to mine - it arrived the same evening he came for the car and the delivery man was just about to bugger off when I got home from work, so it very nearly all went tits up), hitched the A frame to the back of the Rangie and headed off down the A140 towards Harwich and presumably then onwards to his home in East Germany. I never heard anything back from him - I know he got as far as Ipswich as he picked up a speeding ticket on the A140; how he managed this I don't know as the Range wasn't exactly a fast vehicle on its own so Lord knows what it was like with two tonnes of Land Rover behind it. But at the end of the day he paid me what he'd bid (nearly three times what I'd paid for the thing) so I was happy enough. It'll be interesting to see whether the Rayton purchaser is as much of a nutcase.

I once sold a Polo G40 to an Irish chappie. He rang me the day the advert went up asking where my nearest airport was, and two days later he flew over and met me at 6am at the airport. A quick test-drive, cash changed hands and we did all the paperwork. He then looked a bit worried and asked if I knew how to get to Holyhead (from East Midlands airport). "Erm.... that way is south, look for the A42 turning and, erm, that's sort of the right direction". I got a text from him at 10pm saying he'd made it to the ferry :)

Had a phone call from Herman ze German this morning (no I'm not being anti-Kraut - his name really is Herman) and apparently he's going to drive over with a trailer, but his trailer isn't really man enough for the Rayton so he's going to drive it down to Dover and then sling it on the trailer just for the crossing. Hopefully he won't get too much hassle about the lack of paperwork doing it that way...

R-Rer Hollywood has one for sale in the UK, but I don't think it's anywhere near as good as this sadly.

That 323 went for £410 - only £25 more than what the Rayton sold for. Gawd I was tempted. Unfortunately I've learned from experience that spending the money before one has it in one's grubby paw is usually a recipe for disaster. Besides, I've still got to pay for the 121, the Beta (if that doesn't fall through because of the seller's impatience) and the piano, so that's the money from the sale of the Transit and the Marea spoken for, and I need a bit left to pay eBay's outrageous fees and put the Viva, the 9000 and the 245 through their tickets.

Speaking of eBay tat, just been on the phone to the seller of this:

It didn't sell when it was on there last week, so I thoguht I'd call and see what was what. Turns out the chap is a bit of a Renault enthusiast (he runs a dealership specialising in Mégane coupes and convertibles, but he's owned several 25s over the years) and the car itself sounds like it could be a good 'un. It's in Northampton, but I've got to go to Brum to pick up the piano in the next few days, so I'll try and stop in and have a look on my way past. If it's as good as the chap seems to think it is, it'll probably soon be joining the wuvvum fleet.

That Colt is a little on the pricey side for a car with no test and a dodgy bonnet, isn't it? And he hasn't put "RWD" or "drift" anywhere in the title, so it's unlikely to arouse much interest from the kind of dopey drift monkey who enquires as to whether a Citroen CX is rear wheel drive. I do like that 131, but I think that may end up being a little pricey too.

I'd love to know the reg of that Celeste, I may have owned it once.

It's something like KVC or XYC at the beginning..I was speaking to the guy who has it a bit back, he offered it to me for £1500 so i guess the reserve is set somewhere around that mark. Far too expensive for what it is in my eyes :(

My Moskvich memory is of someone on our estate owning first a blue saloon, then a blue estate. Or vice versa. He also ran a Fiat artic tractor unit, which also seemed a bit unusual. Anyway, one day I was riding my bike (maybe a Tomahawk, or perhaps my first racer?) back home idly looking about at things when I rode straight into the back of the Moskvich  I quickly looked round to see if anyone had seen, checked to make sure there was no damage and carried on home...

I had a 408 Mosky -predecessor to this one. I bought it off the illegal that managed to get it here from Ukraine -3 of them drove it the whole way -nicking 'more appropriate' plates to get them across Europe and in here no probs! So much for 'Border guards'. They then wanted shot -quickly -and i was quite happy to oblige.I had made it almost UK roadworthy -the exhaust & tyres were just beyond belief and I was trying to get some inventive paperwork together to Uk register it when it was destroyed in my barn fire. From recollection second from left front row -between the Renault 16TX and Fiat 125 (S1)- it had only gone in there a week before- as I'd stalled over a rear light lense. So -this interests me -and although I need another Eastern bloc -indeed any car -without keys/paperwork 200+ miles away -like a 3rd a***hole -I might have a punt.Waddya think?
