At least there isn't an intercooler sitting on top of the engine.

Yeah, and you don't slice your hands to pieces each time you change the air filter. I don't mind the vertical siting of the 'cooler on the 405 tho, it's a piece of piss to remove.

I once used a maestro diesel van to dolly a Talbot Rancho home from N. Wales, and I was down to 1st gear on a long uphill (of dual carriageway) and did wonder if I was gonna make it home alive. So i have a rule about non-turbo diesels for towing old cars around - JUST SAY NO KIDZ.

Hey man, that's no joke - you need the BOOSTIN POWR of a turdblower to move early 70's Monster Munch, back then they were MASSIVE MAN. If you'd acquired a 1978 (pre-litigation) pack of Jaffa Cakes, you'd need a Leyland T45 MINIMUM.

HEROIC!I must confess to only having used the frame in conjunction with the sprogdiesel wagon and my old Volvo 240. Not yet been brave enough to try it with the BMW, which would inevitably lead to (a) disaster (B) bankruptcy or © disaster and bankruptcy.

Much more capable at transporting heavy goods:

Blimey, the new eBay search thing is a right old faff isn't it? Used to be able to flick between manufacturers with cars 1970-89, now it involves going back to the main page each time. Very dull.

Wonder if anyone will take this on, not just race/scrap it?

I agree. The search function used to be OK, now it fellates otters for pence and posts the footage on the internets. Anyone know how to turn it 'off' and go back to the old way?EBAY KNOW THIS: WE FEAR CHANGE.

You can turn it off, there's a little (very subtle, admittedly) message somewhere at the bottom of each page saying something like opt-out. Hope this opt-out feature remains forever!

I have found that the new search, while clearly an example of pointless meddling purely for the sake of it, is nothing like as bad as the 'trial search' that they were playing with a couple of months ago, which really did give major league frothy head to gummi bears for 'sh1ts & giggles'. At least my saved searches are not all sent to bo11ox, and the classic car section is not just full of 2001 MERCEDES C180 CLASSICs.LEAVE IT EBAY - YOU WILL ONLY MAKE IT WORSEIf there is a way to revert to the old search i'd be keen to hear it

Do these have a cam belt? I once repaired the engine of a Honda Z600 which was a little aircooled twin, and it had a chain. (between the two pots!)

anyway cant see a cam belt being too hard work on one of those - no water pump for a start, might need small digits I suppose.

Back in my student days I nearly bought one with a snapped belt, it was very tidy and the asking wasn't much for a seven year old van (£150 IIRC). Good job I rang round before I bought it because every engine in every scrapyard had gone the same way, so I couldn't help thinking they have a rep for this sort of thing?
