I wish my garage was empty too! Prams and cosy coupes don't help! I still havent looked at the electrics yet but spent some time polishing it, it's getting there.

b408cf896401f29de362fe287bfeb30d.jpg

It's very thin in places but it's come up quite nice, I've also put some new fabric on the C posts, it's not quite the right colour and it isn't perfect (first time I've done this) but it's looking better.

I hope to have it finished tomorrow ready for the evening meet.

A couple more photos and a half arsed update incoming!

After last nights car meet where it drew quite a lot of nice compliments I made a start on a few niggles today.

ce029edd9858e3460fe11ebe59b69cca.jpg

First looked at the cambelt, it seemed pointless changing that as the belt looked good but the tensioner was a bit worn, I'm going to try and souce a new one first before changing the belt, replaced the steering belt and aux belt though.

Then we tried to fit the Powerspark kit but it didn't fit with the trigger ring jammed up against the module so it wouldn't move? I'm going to ring them in the week and find out if I got the right kit

Changed the plugs and all the timing on it though and it runs nicer now. Next was to sort out the interior lights which were earth problems on the door switches and bulbs in the end so they are sorted now.

Then we moved on to the radio, it turned out a fuse was blown so replaced that and wired the radio in properly, it sounds a bit rubbish bit at least I have sounds now.

1a61ff8814ec790da60b88d2b09f1363.jpg

The boot light didn't work as the cable had been crushed at some point so that was repaired and working now and the only thing not working is the central locking, it was unplugged so we plugged it back in, the front doors lock but the rears didn't and rear motors just made a noise so unplugged that again! The headlight washer pump also had a life of its own and kept coming on so the relay was unplugged for that too

I celebrated by treating my dad and the family to a shit meal at a Brewers Fayre in the car.

Thanks, its getting there, a couple of rusty bits to tidy up, a nearside rear mud flap and those lower underriders I ordered which aren't here yet will finish it off, 3 days of polishing made a big difference!

That Pioneer stereo was an expensive unit in its day, my dad had one fitted to his car by Transound on the way in to Manchester. I imagine they're quite sought after nowadays for the full period effect.

That stereo is perfect for the car.

Don't ever change it. It's just right for listening to #Mike Read, Mike Read 275 & 285...

Edit: More likely 257 Radio Orwell or Saxon Radio 240.

It looks to me like a Pioneer KE-1300, from about 1981 ish, (maybe a bit later but if so, not a lot) - they do seem to go for a fair  bit of money on Ebay, etc., so free is a very good result!

I took the family out to the seaside in it today, Mrs Trigger took full advantage of the clunge vent.

Done £30 of fuel in about 120 miles too.

The back box has also gone now too so I done a silly and spent more than I've got on a new stainless box from Rimmers, I'm a little annoyed as I used the 15% discount code on their website which said it was applied but I've still been charged the full amount so I'll have to ring them tomorrow.

Last night my new rear silencer arrived so I messed about trying to fit it on my back for a hour...

d13861329289880f05977f14dd1c9126.jpg

Err... yeah that wasn't happening, the middle section pipe was at the wrong angle and needed heat to bend so i bite the bullet and took it down to my local garage.

It took two blokes 15 minutes with a blow torch what it took me a hour to do last night and all for £10 and a ice cream!

Then you can savour how good the 2.6 really is.

My cousin inherited a Y plate 2300 off his father - main dealer serviced. It was'nt quick but in terms of smoothness and silence it was on a par with the 30v V6 in my A6.

Small update for photos, I spent a while trying to fit my Powerspark ignition kit but I couldn't get the car to start on it so put the points back in but now it's a little flat and doesn't start so well. I'm going to get it booked into garage have get the carbs balanced too.

Meanwhile it's now got boot struts which work!.

That was fabulous!! You've just made me stay up far later than intended (obviously one video leads to another, you can't just go on YouTube for five minutes). Thanks.
