Spottedlaurel
Up-to-date reportage here, just squeezing in my FOTU photos the day before this year’s event. I think coverage of it was lost in various forum problems that took place last summer. My son and I made a bit of a weekend of it and took in a visit to Silverstone, camping the night and going to the Toyota EC’s show at Billing on Sunday, here’s some of what we saw….. Left Norfolk in the mist: 1990 Rover Metro 1.4 GTA and 1961 Wolseley 1500 by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr Saw a few other old things on the way: 1938 Rover 16 by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1994 Porsche 968 Sport by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr Had a bit of time so went the scenic route: Cardington Airship Hangars by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr An attempt to evoke this old photo: Clare’s Garage Ltd, Cople - 1980 magazine feature #1 by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr The picturesque route by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr I’m not going to upload all my photos, more are on Flickr if you want to see them, but here’s a selection from FOTU itself. In summary, probably the best show I’ve been to for seeing once-common everyday cars (plus the odd bit of exotica) without having to find them amongst a sea of the usual classic show fodder. 1972 Vauxhall Victor FD VX4/90 by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1979 Ford Escort 1.3 L by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1971 Citroen Ami 8 Club by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1970 Riley Kestrel 1300 by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1992 Lancia Dedra 2.0 ie Auto by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1972 Honda N600 by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr I would end up seeing the owner of this car with an even more interesting Japanese obscurity at the Toyota show the next day. 1979 Mazda 323 1400 Hatchback Auto by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1976 Vauxhall Viva HC 1300 SL by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1979 Maserati Khamsin by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1974 Hillman Avenger 1600 Super Estate by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1981 Talbot Horizon 1.5 GL by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1983 Austin Ambassador 1.7 L and 1977 Vauxhall Cavalier 1600 GL by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1985 Talbot Solara 1.6 Rapier by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1987 Vauxhall Cavalier 1.6 L by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1978 Renault 5 TL by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1973 Ford Consul 2000 L by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1983 Vauxhall Astra 1.3S GL by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr That’ll do for FOTU 2016. In summary, I rated it highly and I hope tomorrow’s is just as good (if not better). Rest of the weekend to follow……. Ghosty
FOTU? Did someone sneeze?
quicksilver
Fond memories there and hopefully tomorrow will be even better. My dad's Zafira even managed to sneak into the background of the Consul pic - we have something rather more suitable this time though.
Spottedlaurel
I left FOTU and headed for Silverstone, as it was literally just around the corner and in return for my son putting up with my kind of rubbish I promised him a trip there to see GT cars etc racing. Have these photos as my summary of that part of the weekend: 1992 Renault 160 - Rex J. Woodgate by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1978 Chevrolet Corvette 5.7 by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1990 Ford Escort XR3i Cabriolet by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr After that we trundled off to Billing Aquadrome via the canal down at Stoke Bruerne. We had a canal boat holiday when I was young and we went through the seven (?) locks there, so it was a bit of shameless nostalgia for me. We got to Billing. Some non-Toyotas seen: 1988 Range Rover 3.5 EFi Auto by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1957 Ford Thames 300E Van 3.5-Litre by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr But the TEC’s annual show was our real reason for being there. Maybe not quite as much there as they’ve had in the past, but still a great variety and other Japanese makes have always been welcome. Star of the show, owned by the lady who had the little Honda at FOTU: 1967 Toyota 2000 GT by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1967 Toyota 2000 GT by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1965 Datsun Fairlady 1600 Roadster by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr Toyota Crown Estate and Coupe by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1986 Toyota Carina II Executive 1.6 by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1995 Toyota Land Cruiser GS 4.2 by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1987 Camry Turbo-D GL by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1999 Toyota Corolla/Sprinter Carib by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1973 Toyota Carina by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1972 Toyota Corolla 1200 SL Coupe by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1984 Toyota Celica Supra Auto by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1995 Honda Accord Aerodeck 2.2 by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr I think that was their last time at Billing, which is a shame as I’ve been going to shows there with them dating back to 1994. I’m not sure where they’re off to this year, but it’s when I’m away so I can’t go anyway. Some stuff seen on the way home: 1997 Rover 216 Cabriolet by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1990 Ford Orion 1.6 Ghia Injection by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr This lovely Monza appeared to have driven up from Spain, what a lovely cruise that must have been: 1982 Opel Monza 3.0E S by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1982 Opel Monza 3.0E S by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr And that’s the end of what turned-out to be an excellent weekend. FOTU will just be a day trip this year, too much other stuff at home on even if I could have found another event to attend. wuvvum
You're a braver man than me taking a 45-year-old Datsun to MK and back in a day on the first day of the school holidays.

KruJoe
It's nearly always to be seen at Chumley... I see you've just added yourself to the list to come this year, so you can have a lick of it then! SL, thanks for sharing all those pics, brilliant choices as ever. Heidel_Kakao
