Toyota Celica of the terminally dull shape?

By Jove I think you've got it!Yes, I like P4s too. Had one before but the engine was terminally seized - been determined to have a running one ever since. Missed out on a very nice 60 a few months back (£500 with T&T), although the 2-litre Land Rover lump did sound a bit incongruous in such a majestic vehicle. 95 should be the 2638cc IOE straight 6, which is a lovely engine. Only problem is I got the location wrong - for some reason I thought it was in Suffolk, but it's actually the far side of Birmingham  . Don't think the CX would quite be up to dragging it back from there.

Well my last one was dragged back from up Sheffield way behind a C reg Saab 900, so I think the Citroen would probably do it, but I like the old girl too much to put that kind of strain on her. I'll have to see if I can pick up a dirt cheap old Volvo 740 or something.

My initial thought was "Colt Mirage thing?".I fixed a P4 95 for a friend a couple of years ago. Had to take it for the MOT once I'd got it up and running. What a lovely old barge to pootle around in. Didn't stop too well, no synchro on first needed to be remembered more often than I managed, but truly ace fun. Epic understeer even at walking pace meant that driving sedately was the order of the day. It did go well for what it was, loads of 'leave it in top gear' type bottom end torque. Some of the little touches inside were lovely, height adjustable armrests on the doors, the umbrella handbrake by the right knee, the sheer 'well-oiled machinery' feel of the gearchange, the push button starter, the oil level gauge, the huge numbers on the speedo, and the little window in the speedo needle so you can see the odometer. All just class. Great smell, too.

Great old motors those. I used to live near a fella with a two tone grey P4 into which he'd managed to squeeze a V8 from a P5. Looked stock but sounded awesome. It was a very tight fit. If you get it and need bits, there's a whole bunch of P4 in a scrapyard not that far from me. There were about 6 or 7 in there last time I visited.

Honda Accord.

I refuse to believe that a T-suffix FSO can exist.

Do you mean you don't think one that old has survived or you don't think they made them that long ago?

My money is on a Polonez, they came out in 1978 so 'tis possible, I've been looking at pics on 'net and the rear reverse light is looking good and they alo had the Polonez script above the RH rear light.

Nice P4 by the way, Mate of mine who is a very experienced seasoned mechanic was re-commisioning one, he thought that the clutch was knackered untill I mentioned the free-wheeling clutch.

Well there are still shit-loads of the old ones in Poland and they managed to survive countless winters/crap roads/ingenious repairs. I agree it does seem bizzare if it is a Polonez and its survived but its not impossible. If one was imported there say 15 years ago would it get an age related plate?

Just managed to bag myself another old motor on eBay...

It's a Rover P4 95, supposedly running, for the princely sum of £231. But what's the car parked behind it?

Would a T-suffix be about right for one of these? :)
