cpjitservices
Hi all, A very good friend of mine has a 2000 plate, Audi Allroad. 2.7 Turbo with Auto. MOT until November Needs doing: New oil sender needs fitting, A new one will be provided with the vehicle. A new Airbag may be needed on the passenger side rear (suspension) - then again may just need a recalibrate. It runs splendidly, these cars are nothing short of bulletproof. Stands him at a grand, if he gets that back he will be chuffed. Car is available from anytime Any interest ?? Viewing welcome (Newport, Brough) PS: Car has done less than a mile since it's last MOT - due to friend bagging himself a V8 4.2 Allroad so this one has gone unused. PPS: If you require assistance collecting/viewing let me know. Thanks In Advance The Moog, Bren, Paul Dupart and 2 others
Uncle Jimmy
I wonder how much these indebted a punter when new. For a bag I'd say that's very reasonable now, even if it does precipitate a nervous breakdown down the ownership road.

The Airbag is sitting about 20mm lower than the others, so it may need replacing. Think the reserve air supply has gone, suspension does work up and down just out by 20mm on that back pass side. As can be seen in photos. None of the faults are at all serious, for this sort of cash its a lot of car and is in tip-top condition.

chaseracer
The Owd Giffer's 2.5TDi manual was north of 40K new, with options. He paid half that, at just under three years old. Ten years on, it's still going strong. cpjitservices

cpjitservices
These things can be ruinous to keep going. Nice when they work.Indeed, though this one is in very very good nic, and the 2.7 turbo makes a lovely noise and goes very nice, and for a grand if it went wrong in a couple of years you could pick up another one for this sort of money. My boss has 2 more of these, another 2.7 which he has had for 13 years which is now a donor vehicle, and a 4.2 which he will of had for a year in November. Out of the 13 years he has had the other 2.7t... he has had very little in the way of problems apart from the suspension, which is cheap to fix these days if its a keeper. Rod/b
Looks like £90 for a suspension unit on the bay. That's not bad really.
chaseracer
...the suspension, which is cheap to fix these days if its a keeper. How, please? Genuine question, because I fear the old boy is at times being used as something of a cash cow by the local specialist.

Genuine question, because I fear the old boy is at times being used as something of a cash cow by the local specialist. As above the unit is about £90 quid on ebay, its either usually the airbag or the pump, the pump you can rebuild yourself which isnt expensive and to fit the new airbag isnt bad either again £90 quid on ebay, you then need to calibrate the system which you can do through VCDS. Parts for these have dropped in the past few years - Allroads are a common thing on ebay now too, your better off gettng a used one like my Bosses, and run it for a couple of years and then get another one thats been fettled with and had suspension fixed - though once the new airbag has been fitted on my bosses silver lad, I'd doubt you'd have much trouble. of course the other thing to do is, take the airbag suspension off and fit standard A6 strut suspension. chaseracer

Apparently not as bad to fix cost wise nowadays though. Always fancied one because of that trick suspension. Proper Autoshite though imo. chaseracer, Schaefft and cpjitservices

Always fancied one because of that trick suspension. Proper Autoshite though imo.yes they are bulletproof if looked after and serviced properly, the other C5 2.7 is at 188,000 on the clock and would do it again i reckon. Body work on that one though is not so great hence why shes been retired as a donor. To be fair, if you bought the silver lad you could probs take some bits off the the donor, engine needs to come out of that one, in the end it will be a rolling shell. Nah not so bad, i think people are either upgrading to the Alltrack or buying new allroads so these are now going surplus on ebay. You probs wont find one on ebay in as good condition and excellent running for £1000 Sorry typing one handed lol.

NorfolkNWeigh
This blue 2.7 Manuel owned by my brother was great car and went like fook. It was faultless for the 2 years he owned it, even though I and everyone else he knew kept telling him it would collapse in a bankruptcy inducing whoosh of stale Ingoldstadt air.The only downside was it drank like a V8, even 500 miles in Convoy with our Gaylander on the French trip in the photo it just managed 25 mpg. Apparently on the way home on his own and cruising at 30 mph more it did 24! cpjitservices

Sounds good to me.The C5 Allroads ARE holding the money at the moment, and the most common on autotrader and ebay is the 2.5 tdi, I think there's one 2.7T on there and it's more than a grand. If someone wants to make my boss an offer (I can give you his number or email address) and see what he says - though I'm sat right next to him so can ask for you
SiC
2.7t is supposed to be a much stronger (performance and reliability) than the 2.5 tdi, which has issues with its fuel pump. Also supposed to shift pretty well too. £1k for a working 4WD estate is a bargain imo. cpjitservices and Dick Longbridge

Oh it is definitely working, the 2.5 also can have problems with cam chain tensioners too they have a habit or starting to rattle. This is the second 2.7T he's had, hes still got the old one 12 years later on 180k and never had any issues and boy can that one shift.
