A friend has a large caravan

He is going on holiday next week

He has two Discoveries. Both are now broken.

He needs a cheap towcar. £1k or under. 4x4 or car but not van or pick up.

West midlands or Aylesbury area

Anyone got anything?

Why would I give my valuable time to people I would much rather kick in the eye?

I'm sorry, but this made me laugh out loud - I feel guilty, but it did. Such an Autoshite thing to say!

Edit: My taxi has just arrived - destination? Straight to hell.

Got nothing, but two (winning) suggestions:

The annoying thing about those Grand Espace's - is they're bloody beautiful.  I love them.

I would cry myself to sleep owning one I just KNOW it.  In fact, the only way to own them is on tick with a warranty from new.  I'd not have the spuds for it 15 years down the road.

I'd say anything with test that drives well. Could be anything with a budget like that.

Having had two auto Renners from that era including a 2.2 DCI Laguna I really must own an espace at some point - I think I'm well overdue a bunch of pain from the Renault gods

That's fine I'm always taking the piss out of his Discovery's.

Piles of shite, I told him to buy a Shogun.

I asked him why he thinks Britpart don't sell Shogun parts too.....

Why would I give my valuable time to people I would much rather kick in the eye?

216 too small, its a big caravan

No Espaces, think he wants something more reliable than the Discos...

PT Cruiser may have been OK but no time to put a tow bar on

TBH this is worth about £800 on a good day with a following wind in my books - but having had one I can attest that they tow bloody brilliantly - slow though for a 2.4 pez

X Trails are pretty cheap - nicer inside than the Mav/Terrano - but not as reliable or with as big a towing capacity IRRC

Have heard Rextons are good

I had a Musso and it was shockingly bad

Quite like the X Trail, will mention that

The Terrano is overpriced and wrong engine, the diesels are good but the old Laurel engined ones are way outdated

Why would I give my valuable time to people I would much rather kick in the eye?

Ha, a P38??

He has already lost the best of three game

Spunk your money on a P38 or just stay in the caravan for two weeks in the the driveway?

Stay in the caravan on the driveway and mend one Disco using parts from the other. Holiday, edumacation for the kids, and two discos turned into one, wcpgw.
