AXrescuer
My 17 year old brought this home last night. It's a 93 Astra 1.4CDi auto in Diamond Black. Not in bad nick and just had new downpipe and cat fitted. It needs some minor fettling but all in all, not bad for £250 taxed and tested! It drives like a dream considering its age. trigger
The 1.4 mpi in these Astra are a pretty lively lump, I used to have a K reg 1.4 Si which i paid £300 4 years ago, Went like a rocket and had a nice note to the exhaust, Well was good until i killed the engine... pogweasel
1.4 + auto? GR8 4 GOIN SLOW.Still should be pretty indestructible. I had a 1.4 HI-TORQ Mk3, what a wonderful car, utterly unburstable.

pogweasel
It will finish up in a ditch regardless of [lack of] power!
Station
I'm a huge fan of these, I bought a 1.4 MPi LSi in 2002: I drove it for ages and it never broke down. I then bought a GSi, and it got put away and has been in storage for four years with the odd repair doing. To be honest, I wish I'd left it alone. It's a three door in Diamond Black, which I've never seen before (in standard form).
AXrescuer
It will finish up in a ditch regardless of [lack of] power!Given my son's 10 years of karting experience I would be very surprised if that happened! The auto was cheaper to insure as well.
craigcheetham
Hang on, you live in Welwyn and your son has a histyory of Karting. He's not called Lewis by any chance is he?

Station
GSi is top spec. ;)CD has electric everything, sunroof, foglights, alloys and rear headrests! They tend to be bought by old grandads, hence the amount of decent ones out there. You could also get mk2 Astra CD's, which are just as nice. 55bloke
I unexpectedly became a big fan of Mk 3 Astras when we bought a 1.4 Montana for my daughter-in-law. Amazingly quiet and comfortable, and wonderfully relaible. I'm a convert!
