For Sale - Xantia TD - £150

Right then, I'm making my girlfriend unhappy by doing this but due to the imminent arrival of SiC's Laguna this is up for sale:

1.9 TD, Bosch pump, never run on veg

126k

BEIGE

MOT until 21st August, but this is the main reason I've decided to get something else:

Crispy bit on the OS sill, by the rear jacking point. A couple of inches across, and was the only advisory on the last MOT.

Other than that, I've owned it three years and put 20k on it. In that time its had all six spheres replaced and a hydroflush, a new radiator and thermostat, the ignition switch relay mod so the heater works, cambelt, aux belt and tensioner and a new battery.

I'm the third owner, I have a massive pile of receipts, at least some of which are from people that know what they're doing (top tip to previous giffer owner - don't take your diesel Xantia to a Japanese import specialist).

Unfortunately three years of being parked on street in London and Bristol mean its starting to look a bit scruffy - its been Cat C at some point and although I don't know why the NS headlight is slightly squiffy, if you look hard. I also managed to scrape the rear door in the hospital car park when my son was born, although I've (badly) touched it in. Paint on the bonnet and boot lid both a bit shit, assorted scuffs from people that never leave notes and the high level brake light has been 'temporarily' fixed with a Quality Street wrapper and epoxy. Interior pretty good apart from some of the stitching on the drivers seat coming loose - I've sewn it back up but its not the neatest job.

Air conditioning doesn't work, rear NS door doesn't lock or unlock with the central locking but is fine manually, rear washer doesn't (pump works but there's a blockage somewhere which I can't dislodge by poking it with things), fuel gauge and interior B-pillar lights both have a mind of their own, despite replacing all the door switches. It has a towbar, no idea if the electrics work, although going by the standard of the wiring for it I'm going to say hmm. Everything else is good, including the immobiliser keypad and the steering wheel controls for the stereo. Jesus fish included.

I'm probably underselling this a bit as it's been a great car, and I'd really like to avoid sending it to the bridge. If I could get £100 for it I'd be delighted, but feel free to make insulting offers. I'm in central Bristol, a short walk from Temple Meads station.

It occurs to me as I hoover out my slightly rusty Xantia in anticipation of replacing it with a modern Laguna (using the hoover I use for outdoors and DIY, not the one I keep for best, I'm not a philistine) that Autoshite appears to have turned me in to Beko1987. Damn you, Autoshite.

(Something something snowfoam, something something tightwork)

Would anyone like to buy this?

As above, but I've since fitted a new wheel bearing, calliper and pads to the o/s front wheel. It has MoT til the end of August and the little crispy bit wasn't flagged up this time, and doesn't seem to have gotten any worse.

I've also taken the giffer strips off the doors and polished it, but the paint still looks shit on the bonnet and boot.

The front o/s return pipe has sprung a leak (hurrah) and none of the Citroen specialists I have spoken to can be arsed to go and see if they have one. It's low pressure, so could possibly be repaired, but I'd rather replace the whole lot. I would like to get it sorted, but at the mo it's just sat at my office gathering moss so if anyone wants it for £150 (my total outlay about £280 so far) let me know. Otherwise I'll put it on my drive and try and get it fixed next year.

yeah/nah?
