Focus Saloon - futureshite?

The Focus was, and still is a very good car and really did move that market segment on considerably. The 115ps TDCi engine is a cracker, I had numerous Focus' as company cars and would happily have a 115ps TDCi Zetec Estate with the Climate Pack again as they really are good, surprisingly quick and economical.

I think mine was just a dog tbh, I took the car back to the garage a couple of times, Once when the splash shield fell off and jammed on the drive shafts and also when i noticed they forgot to put the locking wheel nut key in the car and then lost it  .Trouble is the garage was a good 30 miles away and had no interest after they sold the car.The final straw was then the boot started to go rusty (it was only 3 1/2 years old) and then it went into limp mode driving home from work one day.Put me of Focus since, Although i would quite like one of the new shape ones, They seem a much better car.

Pity it's a Vauxhall so drives like a heap of codshit.

Are you James off The Apprentice?

Picking up on a couple of points above:

Back end of the original Megane saloon looks like a Star Wars Stormtrooper's helmet. Mrs SL pointed this out to me.

Latest version of the Focus is a peculiar-looking thing. Design seems a right old jumble, the Lexus-alike rear lights look silly, especially on dark cars. My mum and stepdad have just got a brand new Titanium 5dr, it's black so with the drug-dealer 'privacy' glass on that model the entire rear end looks like it's been spray-painted back, but then the rear lights clash horribly. And I'm not convinced by the multi-spoke wheels on that model either, they look a bit soft in appearance (and even worse on Mondeos).

Talking about Mondeos, the rear lights on the current model look like the eyes of a rich, old American lady who's been facelifted one too many times.

No. The Mk1 Focus was much better. Nicer to drive, nicer interior, very very reliable on the whole and in the right spec a really good real world all round car.Don't get me wrong, the 'new' Focus is ok but doesn't drive as well as the first and is a bit ordinary really plus the tend to suffer from odd electrical glitches.

That's the Renault Thalia.I'm on my 2nd Focus.First was a 1.8 Ghia Petrol Estate. Top motor. Now have a 2006 1.6 Petrol Ghia Hatch with full leather, park sensors, electric seat adjust etc etc etc.Best drive ever.I am on course for a shitter trade in saloon in the next 12 months. We had a W plate 2.0 Ghia came in for £700, but it was snapped up by a trader. 55k on the clock. Next was a 52 plate 1.6 Ghia. That was £1700 IIRC. I wait for the next...................

My manager has a Mk1 Focus, which has done 100k, and still looks, drives and handles like new,the Mk 2 seemed to be a cheapened version, but drove a Mk 3 today and seemed much better.I worked for Ford when the Focus was launched, and remember the entire workshop staff stood and looked over the first one we had delivered off the transporter for a good hour, it was such a leap from the escort! I look after quite a few 200K+ diesels and they are pretty fault free. One of the best ,if not the best moderns you can buy IMO.
