C15 Romahome is it sellable?

Not sure if this of any interest or too expensive for on here (I am trying to limit my losses).

Bought in a fit of stupidity a few months ago, in between paying for it and picking it up, it got vandalised, the vendor replaced the wind screen, I paid for the new double glazed side window with built in blinds.

I brought it home and have had the cambelt changed (new waterpump fitted at same time). I them had to get a rear spring refitted and a new rear hub bearing on the other side.

When I put it back in the storage yard it punctured a rear tyre, the spare was useless so fitted two new rear tyres. The radio didn't work so fitted a new cheap radio/cd with mp3 input. The upholstery was a revolting pattern so the bunks are recovered and new curtains made. The sink has been replumbed with a new electric pump and it has a fairly full gas bottle and new leisure battery. I also fitted a new lock on the rear door. It has the Hylo roof so will usually fit in most multi storey car parks.

I have realised that I am never going to use it as a camper and just popping down to check on it every week is a bit pointless, especially when I add in the cost of the storage yard.

I have stuck it on Gumtree and ebay but apart from a couple of "what's the least you'll take" no real interest.

Structurally not too bad for a 25 year old Citroen, left hand sill replaced, right hand side repaired. The doors are grotty at the bottom and have been filled. MOT until Feb 2018

It owes me lots more than I'm asking but that's my problem. I don't really want a swap at the moment (but never say never) Yes I probably will take even more of a loss, but that would be if someone was there waving cash under my nose.

Any interest?

No I thought not, but thanks for reading.

Is it? I hate to say I've seen quite a few for a lot less despite this being I'm sure a lovely example.

I think you've priced it pretty fairly to be honest, it would be ideal for what I need except

Well it looks like you're right.

EBay ad has now expired (still has over 20 watchers) but no sensible leads.

Gumtree has been better with a few questions, some stupid, "has it ever been smoked in?"

A few have viewed, but no buyer.

Some Gumtree blind offers, but when I reply saying to ring me, no further contact.

One person, loads of questions, then made arrangements to view, then fell off the face of the planet.

Now dropped it to £2.5k on Gumtree I'm now sick of the sight of it and want it gone. (I paid just over £3k for it and have spent over £1k on it since). Any interest/offers/ideas how to get shot of it would be welcomed

When I wanted one of these they were a lot more money than this, FFS.

Has it got power steering and does it drive without too many foibles? My mum was on about wanting a little camper and was thinking about buying my T25 off me, but this would be loads better, I might be able to talk her into it.

get you ad back up on Autotrader and as a classified on Ebay, and sell the fuck out of it's MPG capabilities, and the fact it will go in supermarket car parks, smoll parking spaces, can be used everyday for work, spares are plentiful in foreign climes and here (shares loads of bits with other Pugs like the 205 etc), how cute it is and so on!

Seriously, gumtree is not your selling friend!

I bought StrangeAngel's old C15 van off him and tarted it up with retro curtains, filled the boot with caravan cushions, and stuck a new MOT on, had quite a bit of interest and sold for break even plus beer tokens, which was nice as it kept the old girl on the road another year, but you have to concentrate on what it does well or you won't be convincing.

Once in top gear the bugger will cruise very nicely for thousands of comfy miles on a whiff of derv - I know a bloke who has one of these for is annual trip to Greece where he has a boat, he has been thru many variations to land on this tactic, works fine for him and his wife :)

The competition for similar is stuff like Suzuki Bambi's etc - not a patch on cruising ability compared to the C15, these little buggers are for winners :)

Good luck anyway, having said all that I prefer big trucks and so on, but there are loads of people out there who go for smoll campers for convenience and cost, especially covering big miles, and these are about the best you can get in that category :)

That's proper nice. I very much enjoyed the old C15 djimbob mentions above for the five years or so that I owned it; practical, versatile and reliable to a fault. Were it not for the fact that we have a Peugeot Boxer Autocruise conversion on pretty much permanent long-term loan I would seriously bother you with hard cash for this.

None of which helps you, I appreciate. So GLWTS etc.

not a stupid question ,  tobacco and  weed smoke  is all pervasive and even if you think it;s clean  and fresh it;s not ...

if you  move out of sharing  ccomodatio nwith someone who smokes and open a  bag / box of stuff   that was nominally 'celean' after a few weeks / months ina smoker free environment you'll notice

It is a stupid question bearing in mind the age and number of owners.

No way you could know the answer, but the obvious one is Yes at some time or other.

This one doesn't have power steering, there is no auxiliary heating and no electric hook up. It drives ok, but is a bit sluggish compared to the ordinary C15 van, the clutch pedal sits a bit high, but there is no clutch slip. I have used it back and forth to West Wales and the 50mpg is better than the 17mpg of the Land Rover.

I did have it as a classified on eBay and there was no real interest. Today's Gumtree "offers" are £1300 and £1800, these are the Gumtree random number offer with no words. I really don't want to go below £2k, but I'm sure if I said to £1800 guy, OK come and collect it I'd never hear another thing.

I just have to face that whenever I buy anything it immediately becomes worthless.

Many are idiots, the odd one is sound. I've had idiots and a buyer the day after.

TBH you would expect electric hook up.

In your shoes I'd put a classified on ebay at £1850, reduced for quick sale. Tell the gumtree people its now on ebay.

Long running ad and don't remove it until the cash is in your hand.

Someone wants one and yours would be cheapest.

It is worth a minimum of 2K, but what can you do.

The trouble is, if you tell the Gumtree people it's now £1850 on eBay, they'll notice the price drop, then bid even less. People really are like that, to the extent some people make an offer which you knock back and then make an even smaller offer later. They're just dickheads.

And would you believe I still have this? (Yes because I have the cheek to want money for it.) I put it back on ebay as a classified with the make an offer facility. I have had a few offers, some of which I would have accepted had they been serious (used the counter offer facility asking for confirmation of the offer and buyers* then disappear). Had a couple of viewings, two disappointed by the cosmetics, accepted that it was described accurately, but were hoping it would be better.

One offer accepted, various details confirmed for collection, buyer then abducted by aliens and not seen or heard from since. One viewing with a "would you take?" and with a bit of haggling got to a figure I would accept, this was not; however an offer, but something they would go away and think about. Obviously whatever they thought wasn't positive as not heard from them again.

I'm now thoroughly sick of the sight of it and dealing with people. I return to work in just over a week (that's another story) and will no longer be able to go down to the storage yard at the drop of a hat to wait for people who don't turn up. I am now at the point price wise where it seems I will be lucky to get back what I have spent on it since buying it, writing off the original purchase price completely; this is assuming that someone will ever make an offer that is actually serious.

Sorry for the whinge, I'm in a bad mood.
