purplebargeken
Elderly neighbours/friends bought a 12 plate Kangoo that has been converted to a wheelchair carrying jobbie. Lovely car/van and a really lovely conversion done.I really like it to be honest. The car was delivered a couple of days ago from the specialist in Wales. The car has an MOT dated 19th June and no advisories were listed. The two issues that concern me are: Both windscreen wipers are fucked and do not clear the screen properly. They are covered in algae and have chunks missing. The N/S headlight is literally running with condensation. She has been fobbed off with saying that it is just a result of the weather and she should drive the car with the headlights on. This in my opinion is utter bollocks and have told her so. The company said it is expensive to remove the headlight and replace the seal (or headlight unit. Might be so but what a shit excuse. I thought the two items would have resulted in a fail or at the very least be noted as advisories. MOT tester folk opinion? Suck it up,replace the blades and put it down to experience or a quick call to the Ministry? Can someone quote MOT regs at me? I have it when people possibly get fobbed off. twosmoke300
Headlight steamed up not a failure in itself unless it affects the pattern . Prob due to the bulb cover missing or it's damaged somewhere due to accident damage .
Tamworthbay
Wipers are often ignored, should have failed though.

purplebargeken
The wipers were utterly shagged.

purplebargeken
Cheers for that. The wipers are a clear fail then going by that section. The info on headlights doesn't really seem to cover condensation tbh, or if so, is not specific.
michael1703
Wipers might have been good enough to clear the screen at time of test

egg
So with the wipers I expect it was 'we'll pass it if you change them straight away?' Happened with my Fusion recently. It's so stingy not to change them for a couple of ecp specials though.

3VOM
Possible scenario: had decent wipers on when presented for MOT. Someone at garage swaps them for a crap pair to get a different car through an MOT or to pacify a complaining punter or to get a sale off the lot. Isaac Hunt
Unlikely the 'mine is a tree' will be remotely interested in something that can be changed so easily for the test and after the test with regard to wiper blades. Seller might have a few in several sizes that get dropped on for a test and off after. If seller save £10 a car and does 3 a week tis £1500 'on the bottom line'
