Somewhat appropriate to see it in the snow, after its years in FInland it'll feel quite at home.

Random Cedric 130 images that I have:

Datsun Cedric 2000 Station Wagon (130) export brochure by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

Before the squared-up front end, the original 130-model Cedric looked like this. A handful came to the UK, Datman was sent a period photo of one only the other day.

Datsun Cedric 2000 Station Wagon (130) export brochure by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

Japanese estates were sold either as a wagon, intended primarily for personal use.....

Datsun Cedric 2000 Van (130) export brochure by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

Or as a van, for commercial use. Although it's a generic export brochure this one does have a stamp on it for a UK dealer - Berkeley Garage of Milton Road, Southampton. Doubtless long-gone.

Here are some that I've seen myself:

I think Junkman mentioned this one earlier on. I seem to recall it was responsible for rather comprehensively destroying a Granada hearse with some help from Swaffham's post and wire fence.

That unusual opening side window is good for dogs. These aren't my photos, the owner sent them to me but I did see it myself......

At the rainy JAE at Billing in 1997, where it drew a crowd. I believe it does still exist in storage somewhere, but it hasn't been on the road for a long time.

It's unknown if saloon models were sold in the UK, as any surviving 130 models I know of have all been estates. This one was an import from Japan, it belonged to a chap from Scotland who amassed a rather large collection of big Datsuns and Nissans (including a President). I haven't got a clue if it survives, DVLA says untaxed since 2000.

Wedding Day, 2002 by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

And finally, a smart white saloon was used as one of our wedding cars. My friend from Holland kindly brought it over with him for the weekend, I think it was originally from Switzerland. Mrs SL had the privilege of being driven to the venue in it.

What a way to end 2017 - I can't imagine there being a better collection thread this year, both in terms of the car and the trip......and a big pile of bonus win with the Lego content.

You've got me hankering after a Toyota crown again, specifically a mid 80s one. As a kid a friend's dad was given one in need of repair in lieu of some work he done (He was either a spark or a plumber). It lay behind the house and we used it to play in. Memories of velour and buttons.....

Missed this before, Lego is Danish and Volvo Swedish.... If you replaced the word Swedish with Scandinavian then it would be perfect :)

Yes, my bad! Youngest daughter corrected me on that when I showed her the pic. There's nothing like a cutting comment from a sassy eleven year old to cut a man down pronto...

That one doesn't have those rear opening 1/4 panel windows that the YUA had?

that banger raced one looked to be really solid too,

just look at that rear quarter after it got hit,not a hint of rot or filler!!

As on all Cedric estates that shared that feature, they only had the opening window on the left side (i.e. kerbside for Japan).

Not too long, will maybe start again from day one with added details and photos, or start from absolute beginning including back story but then you will be waiting ages to find out what happened at the strip joint.

Cant believe I missed this thread, brings back my faith in Autoshite - this is shear gold in thread write ups. What a car and what a journey.

I have visited many of the places on your trip, went to Finland including Turku (and off back again next week)

Spent many a time in Sweden, crossing the fantastic Oresund bridge, first in my old Talbot then a couple of years ago in my Mitsubishi L300. On that same trip we went to Billund (my daughter is mad on Lego) - Managed to go to Legoland Malaysia the same year.

So reading this from end to end was pure gold for me - thanks for keeping me entertained for an hour or two, I hope one day I get to see the Cedric in real life as it's just beyond awesome...

Thanks and will keep an eye on this thread now...
