I is cheapskate and booked non refundable ferry from Holland on Friday, plus I need to get back for Cannock auction Saturday. After two failed attempts I am now in a titty bar for the first time in my life, no photos allowed so you will have to take my word for it. This is the most epic week of my life ever, fuck knows how I will top this. Maybe a factory Wankel engined Lada from Russia......

So Tuesdays mission was to get from Stockholm to Gothenburg via Örebro, before we find out how I got on let's have a nugget from the owners handbook.....

Can anyone who owns a modern car check their handbook and let me know if it explains how to do opposite lock?

I wanted to set off by 06:00 sharp as the Volvo museum is only open till 17:00 and I had roughly 300 miles to cover, I only got back from the bar at 02:00 though so minimal sleep was achieved but a hot shower to wake you up works wonders :) I still hadn't purchased an ice scraper at this point so credit card was deployed again, I walk to work every day so have not had to do the whole tedious defrosting a car before you can set off for years and I don't miss it :( Stil defrosting done I left the former prison just after 6 in the am. Driving through cities in the early hours of the morning whilst still dark always makes me feel like I am recreating C'était un rendez-vous and in this Cedric that is especially true.

Definitely in Volvo country at the first fuel stop of the day, the petrol gauge works after a fashion but I am brimming it at every rest stop anyway, I have a UK brochure scan from Spotted Laurel which says he has a 55 litre tank but Jani said that was bollocks and it's more like 45 litre, when you find out how many different Datsuns he has had over the years and still has in his collection I would class this guy as a guru and tend to believe him over some promotional brochure.

Then first McDonald's of the trip for breakfast, I had the default double sausage and egg McMuffin meal but no photos of that as I get generally don't take pictures of my food so if you really want to know what one looks like Google is your friend.

I then got on the gas and headed to Orebro, I had been told over on the Brickset forum to try and visit Klossbutiken if possible as it's a really good independent Lego store. It's more than likely becoming apparent to you all that my route has been carefully planned to hit as many Lego stores as possible scooping up as many store exclusives as I can.

The store was great, bit pricey but so many rare sets :) I spent an enjoyable bit of time chatting Lego with the clerk and bought a keyring and a custom Orebro minifig. I have been meaning to start a thread in the open forum espousing my love of the brick.

They had the 2016 employee Christmas set, I also have one at home as trains is my favourite theme, to date the most expensive set I own but I don't have the new Falcon yet.

More fuel!

The trip about to rollover, it was zeroed at Jani's house before I set off. I saw signs for Trollhattan about here but I have not owned a Saab yet so pressed on towards Torslanda.

I stopped for more fuel and a quick under bonnet check, screenwash was virtually empty as I had been chewing through it at quite a rate! Jani had given me some to take so that was fine. I checked the expansion tank and it was empty! Radiator was full though, I only had an empty 500ml bottle in the car so headed over to the Ovendig place to see if they could help and could they. It was done kind of workshop or engineering joint and they gave me free an empty 20 litre container which you can see above, so now I have a ton of water on board which is great for cleaning windows and lights as I go. I topped up the expansion tank, I was not worried about this minor problem as for the last four weeks I have been reading online how the legendary L series is virtually indestructible, bulletproof, bombproof, unkillable and all the other synonyms you can think of so a being a bit low on coolant is not going to trouble Cedric.

I got to the Volvo museum about 45 minutes before closing and blitzed it. This is a whistle stop tour so when I return in the future I will spend more time actually reading information boards and shit, the museum is great and some seriously cool Volvo's reside inside. I purchased a key ring and T-shirt as souvenirs.

I then headed towards my B&B for the night and got caught in some awful Gothenburg traffic which gave my cooling system a nice little stress test lol. Couldn't resist papping car next to a Nissan dealership sign and I stopped at a McDonald's for a Big Mac where I also phoned my B&B to let them know I was running late. Then a hubcap fell off! It was like all the clichés in the movies when a big Yank Tank loses one. Luckily I was going less than 30MPH as I was slowing to make a sharp right turn at a junction, I had never experienced this before but the first thing I thought was shit it's going to get crushed by a truck or something but it seems lady luck is smiling on me this week as it landed undamaged on the pavement. I stowed it in the boot as didn't want to risk losing it again and may remove the others too for safety, they are not originals but Japanese made reproductions.

I arrived and the first thing I saw was a 1970's Toyota Corolla in the car park! I left a note on it, will be interested to see if anything comes from it. I collected my key card from the dropbox and found out I had been upgraded for free :)

Ok this is taking forever and I want to get on the road, will finish it in a bit and you can find out what went down in the strip joint.
