nacho man
Well when I bought my trophy I pinky promised Mrs T no more cars.ThenWell technically it's not a car. She was pissed, but I said it was an investment I will guarantee I won't loose money etc etc. Plus I went halfs with my Dad as he mainly wanted it.She got over it quickly. At the moment the kitchen looks like thisWas also like that 6 months ago, maybe longer. So she was a bit annoyed when I booked the trophy in for a front end respray, picking it up this week. Why won't you spend money on the house etc etc.Well it's a addiction I can't get away from. This morning led to...I have said this will be sold on asap, and I will make a drink out of it.Well if takes a while to sell, it takes a while. Snigger snigger. She is out today so hopefully she can warm to the idea of a sunny summer night run to the pub. It's deffo a ten footer.Used to be this colourObvs had a colour change sometime in its life, quite a bit of blistering.Seller undersold it though. Found receipts for a very recent auto box rebuild and headgaskets, updated rad, updated suspension. Also found a few gems in the history.Back or a greetings cardPrice listLoads of these scimitar rally stickers if anyone wants a certain year I might have one.Wonder if I can still invest I am sure it's basically money in the bank.So there it is. A auto se6b I believe, as it's a late 1980 model registered in 81.Gonna go and blast it around the lanes. Will get more pics later.Princess Anne etc etc etcSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk RoadworkUK, richardthestag, DeeJay and 45 others

nacho man
Just been for a good blast. Fan kicks in at about 90 degrees and stays on for ages. But I suppose at least it works.  Interior needs a good clean.  It's got a odd switch next to the headlight switch that I am not quite sure what it does. Also.   Nice Volvo sunroof that opens 2mm up. Totally worth it.   Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Stevebrookman, Conrad D. Conelrad, RobT and 5 others

garethj
Looks good. Scimitars seem to be starting to creep up in value which means you can enjoy that one and sell it on for a small profit. Before the value rockets and in 2 years time it will be worth more than your house. It's the Autoshite way fiatdaft, Magnificent Rustbucket and eddyramrod

Guest Breadvan72
I have hovered my eBay finger over inummerable Scimitars over the years, but always resisted.  Now  .... must ... resistt ... more.   Wel jel of this purchase.  Because Scimitar.  Because green.  Because slutty slotty alloys.  Pity 'tis auto, but hey.
nacho man
Got close to buying an SE5 last year, much to like about Scimitars, yours will be Cologne powered then? No it must be one of the very last essex powered ones. Also this is its 4th engine in 100k according to the history. Yeah the auto really blunts the performance. I had a se5 manual a couple of years back and it felt like a hot rod. This more of a grand tourer. A lot more civilised.

nacho man
She took its arrival quite well. She did state they she is never ever riding in it, ever, even if I give her one trillion pounds. We went shopping in it this morn, I did not give her one trillion. Just a big breakfast at the cafe in Sainsburys. Easy. nacho man
 Should of taken note of number 10.  Left it in neural and it doesn't drop any transmission fluid. Why would it do this???? Anyhow, the garage is gonna get plastered in fuel from start ups.  The indicators stopped working this morning when I went on a site visit in it, but they came back to life a hour or so later. Bonus.    Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Bucketeer, garethj, Lacquer Peel and 2 others
alf892
Indicators did not stop working.......just resting. I understand most of the electrical components will do this in turn. Order may be random. Nice buy.......colour change was a major improvement too nacho man and michael1703
nacho man
Well you never Adam and Eve it.  Leant this to poppa T as he is a glass fibre enthusiast.  He took it to see my grandma, picked her up and it wouldn't restart, he had a quick look but couldn't diagnose, then after a hour or so she fired up. Will this be vapour lock??? He did say after it started, he thought it was missing every so slightly. He said the fuel pump looks newish. It runs electronic ign by the way.

somewhatfoolish
 Should of taken note of number 10.  Left it in neural and it doesn't drop any transmission fluid. Why would it do this????It's an odd one; I'd take a guess that the output shaft bearing is slightly tired and when in park the torque applied to the drive shaft is displacing it sideways, distorting the shaft seal and causing the incontinence, whereas in neutral there is no torque applied, no displacement and no dribbly. It seems unlikely though. nacho man

coalnotdole
Nice car I think strong dark colours suit the se6 series cars. The standard way to start a Scimitar with an Essex would be to pump the throttle ONCE when cold to set the auto-choke. If its correctly setup it shouldn't need any throttle when cranking. They are quite hard to flood though. In hot weather I had problems with fuel evaporation on my 5a, the top of the engine engine bay gets very hot and with all the ethanol in modern petrol it can be an issue. In the end a new fuel pump cured it, Replacing a NOS glass bowl type that was on there. Is the air box standard? I've heard some people say the hot start problem was worse with aftermarket air filters. nacho man
nacho man
It's got a manual choke, and has a aftermarket air filter. Poppa T said he had a look last night and there was a vac pipe that had popped of the carb, he put it back on and she is running a.o.k again, he is brining back in the week, so will have a gander. It's the switch next to the headlight switch on the centre console, that's confusing me. Before this it has been starting perfect hot or cold.
