Around 2001, When I had my 1992 J Reg 1.4 SR, I was always, always without fail, being stopped by Lothian & Borders (Police Scotland Now) finest traffic officers, Even though the car was road legal, taxed, mot'd, insured etc & I did not drive like a loon, It did not matter where I went, even if they were going the opposite way, they would swiftly about turn,& stop me, Under the guise of" routine stop"

Then proceed to check my tyres etc & always, always if stopped at night, the old torch shone directly onto the hazard light switch & then the ignition.  I got used to it.

It was because they are rather easy to "take", If you know what I mean.

Top Tip....take the hazard light switch with you, every time you leave it somewhere. I used to do this with my SR.

Speaking of SR, I Have a Full, complete,Steering column, with keys & ignition barrel & SR Steering wheel, Sitting in my garage, If it is of any interest to you, give me a shout.

Thank guys

It is a great little fun car to drive.

4 speed box,the clutch bites a little high but ok.the engine needs a little Italian, which i/we have been doing gently.Fil weighs in at around 20 stone and 6.3" so the car does struggle with him on board.

Their is 3 dents in the roof, now if they were upwards i may know why ;-) ;-) but they are not,and 1 dent in the bonnet.

The near side rear wheel arch is a little scabby,as is a small patch on the botton of the passenger door.

It will be up for sale soon.

I know exactly what you mean, didn't believe it until we put late 1.6 GSi running gear into a 1.3sr we used for autotests and sprinting. Seeing that what I thought was an urban rumour was actually true was eye opening.

Cracking Nova BTW DVee8!

1991

A Vauxhall dealer somewhere in England.

Jake Fandan is choosing the spec for his new motor vehicle, a Vauxhall Nova.

Salesman: 'What colour would you like your car to be, sir?'

Fandan: 'Grey.'

Salesman: 'And the interior, sir?'

Fandan: 'A kind of beigey grey, please. It will match my grey polyester suit from C&A.'

Salesman: 'Yes, sir. Righty-ho, sir.'

Nice car. My pal had a white SR in the 90's. It seemed fast at the time...

Help Help.

The distributor has packed up on the Nova,or should i say fell apart..

Has anyone got  distributor for a 1991 1.2 Vauxhall Nova PLEASE..

I may have one from when we used to use Astras and Cavaliers for Oval racing. I will check when I am at my unit on Tuesday. From memory the black cap dizzys were prone to failure and we preferred the red cap dizzy from the Mk2 Cavalier. If all else fails I would recommend ringing  H & H ignition services. They will be able to repair your old unit for a reasonable price.
