Honda CG125 £600

Autoshite isn't the most conventional way of selling motorcycles but before I decent into the hell that is ebay I though I'd have a shot.

This is my wife's little Honda, she's had it just over 3 years and being a Honda all it's needed in that time has been a battery a tyre, fork seals and servicing (enclosed chain FTW). She is in the process of getting her big bike license (and looking for a red GT550 to match my black one) and so this has to go.

New MOT and no issues, electric start and kick. Original handbook included :)

Shiter price £600

I occasionally visit a couple of biking forums where the resident all-knowing* blowhards smugly advise wannabe L-platers that Sir couldn't possibly get anything in a 125 that's not going to self-immolate or die hideously in a hail of shattered piston for less than a grand. Knobbers.

Do like that, don't think it'll be hanging around long at that price.

I have one of these in the old shape with the whacky four speed gearbox - it starts first kick, goes well (60 mph at a push, 50 to 55 with ease), stops well, and so on.  The handling is a bit stodgy, but it's a very docile ride.   It has enough road presence not to be squished by SUV idiots, and enough acceleration to pull ahead of tailgating morons.  It goes up hills.    Go for it!

Insurance cost - 10p.  Tax cost, 2p.  Petrol cost, 5p if you are wrist happy, otherwise basically free.

Mine is so swank that it has an OMG revcounter, a loud hooter and always-on lights that work at the same time as the indicators and the hooter, so you don't have to choose between one or the other of those.  Maybe this one has similar (minus the rev counter).

A GC125 does not weigh much, and is hard to drop.

Eleventy trillion Indian farmers can't be wrong.

FFS stop tempting me.

Really. Stop it.

A million times nicer to ride than a C90, better on fuel and the perfect weight/size to flick in and out of traffic. Bullet proof engine, extremely low maintenance and cope v.well with abuse. Just wipe the exhaust with an oily rag now and then as they rust quite a bit, and you've got the ideal bike.

Funnily enough, one of the cheapest ways of making your C90 more like a 'proper' motorcycle is to fit CG125 shocks -they're the same length and fit straight on in most cases (sometimes you need to replace the bushes).

That and replacing the Chinese ditchfinders people insist on using with something made of rubber (Metzeler ME22s are my favourite) are the two easiest and best mods you can make to a Super Cub.
