Hi all,

Story goes... A very good friend of mine has moved to Spain. He moved about 3 - 4 months ago but his car is still in this country. H'e love to keep it and export it to Spain but doesn't have the time nor the funds so it's up for grabs.

It currently resides at his farm in Lincoln, High Fen Farm. Car has not done many miles at all since last MOT which runs out end of May. Will be picking up the car on Sunday for him with any luck and bringing it to Hull to put a new MOT on it ready for sale.

Haven't got any pics as yet but hopefully will get some on Sunday.

Reg Number is: FY05KJF

That is all I know for the moment, just putting the feelers out and drumming up some interest.

Price will be £2295 with a full MOT. Negotiable.

Photos and more details to follow soon!

Thanks

12 years old, 100,000 miles, needs two tyres and shocks. His price may be a little optimistic.

Couldn't agree more, but thats what he wants to push for.... At least it will have a brand new MOT when it is for sale.

I did tell him £2k is over the odds..... But will see what happens.

Having bought one recently I'd say his price is not far out if it is a nice one...........because most are shit.

If nice spend some time doing a decent ad and pick your market......a good description sells.

I wouldn't reckon this place is your market really...........

I'd give you 500 quid for it though

The one I had was near mint, a very nice drive wafting through country roads. Wasn't bad on fuel either. Mine had the same engine as this one. Very solid.

Mine was a 2001 plate so had the older interior where as this one is the same as the X Type Interior.

I have driven the Jag my mate has for sale - I had it from him for 3 months on loan. Drives superb.

And let me tell you, they look wherever you park them. They do turn heads.

As much as I don't really like them, the S Type is good value - an 05 E60 5 Series would be a lot more than 2 grand becuz germin qwality.

i am going to come clean with the collective.

but,

i actually really rather like these.

there, see what i've done. but i like them.

do i like one enough to buy one, at around £2k?

maybe yes..... maybe no.... it is a lovely looking thing. and it a very lovely colour!

i mates dad had a 3 litre one of these as a company hack back around 2000 or 2001 not long after they had gone on sale so, been a mark 1 it had a crap looking dash board.

but i still liked it, the time came however when it was replaced by a W210 E-class.

which compared to the Jaguar looked and felt like a pile of shit.

There are looooooads of fairly iffy looking S-Types sitting at dealers having had 5+ owners, with the last three owners being in the last two years all of whom have driven it hard and serviced it little, with MOT histories to make you wince.

I keep coming back to them time and time again (naturally) but I don't think my balls are that big. It'd need to be a one-owner giffer-owned example with folders of history and proof of underseal/rust-proofing and all of the moon-on-a-stick stuff that is highly unrealistic or reasonable to expect really.

However, what I would say is that if I ever did seriously enter into the S-Type market, I would be actively looking for higher priced examples with well-written adverts, photographs of paperwork/service history, and would probably consider that to be more of a bargain than some dealership forecourt trophy that has an 'MOT'.

So the OP's example came with 12 month's MOT with all significant advisories addressed and was accompanied by shiney photos, I'd say advertising for just north of £2k expecting £2k on the dot would be fairly realistic.

I say this with an air of authority or 'knowing-my-shit' that I categorically do not have in any way shape or form, mind.

If it's a good one that's been maintained at Jag dealers or reputable specialists regularly then £2k is perfectly reasonable. Top end in the Jag mags for one of these is about £4-5k, although a car needs to be minty fresh and low miles to stand any chance of that. As RevBJ says, rather this than a doggy Bangle 5 any day of the week!

S-types have their loyal fans in Jag circles as it's a 'new' car that still 'looks like a Jag' i.e. 1960s throwback. GLWS.
