wuvvum
Over the next few weeks / months I am going to be getting rid of the vast majority of my fleet, because reasons. Only vehicles that are currently "safe" are the Rover of Doom (because daily and fugging brilliant all-rounder), Carina (because Grandad's), Movano (because useful for moving house, which I will be looking to do once I've got a bit of money together and once I can find somewhere a) within cycling distance of Norwich, b ) with a sensible rent, c) which allows cats and d) which is direct to landlord as agencies will LOL at me because of my credit score - the fact that I've been in my current home for 9 years and never once been late with the rent counts for nought apparently, tossers), and Renner Six (because I need at least one interesting vehicle in my life). I have a reasonable idea of the worth of most of them (3/10ths of fuck all mostly), but I'm struggling with the Innocenti. It's probably one of the most saleable at the moment as it's on the button and has plenty of test - most of the others will need to be put through an MOT before I can sell them (apart from the Getz which no fecker seems to want anyway). The fact that it is (to the best of my knowledge) the only one of its type in the UK doesn't help. Last time I listed it on eBay (about 7 years ago) it made £850, although the "buyer" then pulled out, after getting me to put six months' tax on it for him, twat. Since then its condition has deteriorated somewhat (door bottoms have got rustier, trailing edge of the bonnet has rust spots, offside headlight glass is cracked and the lacquer on the roof has suddenly gone to shite for some reason), but in the meantime the prices of anything vaguely Mini-related have gone through the roof. That red and white one which was on eBay a few weeks back made £675 - yes it was a more desirable early model and converted to RHD, but it was also a major resto project. I'm not sure though whether mine, with its Daihatsu engine and proper suspension, is too far removed from its Mini base for the scene tax halo to reach it. I can't sell on eBay at the moment (and wouldn't really want to anyway), so my main sale platforms are going to be here, RR, Carandclassic, and Gumtree for the more mundane stuff. Other than starting with a completely daft price and gradually bringing it down over time until it sells (which I don't think is a very good sales tactic), I'm not really sure where to pitch it. Appreciate I may be clutching at straws, but any opinions (informed or otherwise) welcomed. Here's a pic of it when I first bought it - not got any recent ones. strangeangel, Shep Shepherd, holbeck and 7 others
cort16
Quite a tough one as there don't seem to be any for sale to price it against.Given a tidy metro can make a couple of grand these days it's got to be in that ball park.
Tamworthbay
Not sure myself, as a serial mini fettler and mod on the sales/ valuation section on miniforum I wouldn't see that at anywhere close to 2k, the innocenti minis go for stupid money but that love doesn't really extend beyond a couple of die hards and the daihatsumengine will narrow that group further. Spares availability will put buyers off as well so I think it could be a hard sell unless it's priced keen. Auction really is the best way but appreciate avoidance of evilbay. You can always drop the price but harder to put it up, so perhaps punt it around £1000 and see if you get any interest.
anonymous user
Not hugely relevant, but didn't somebody on here buy the red and white one?
RobT
Considering where you're located, would ACA be the best option for this?
wuvvum
From what I've seen of that place recently they'd probably charge about £8,395 (+ VAT) just to enter the car in the auction. Uncle Jimmy
Felly Magic
Anglia Car Auctions are £75 plus VAT entry for the classic auction, otherwise carandclassic http://www.angliacarauctions.co.uk/en/buying-selling/sell-your-classic/
HillmanImp
Considering where you're located, would ACA be the best option for this?Limited audience shirley? If nobody there wants an obscure old car, it will sell for peanuts. For something like this, unless you need shot of it in a hurry it needs to go on something like car and classic IMO. It might take a while to find a buyer (or might not) it depends on who is looking for something like this. Put it up for the top end of what you want for it, if it doesn't sell and you want shot maybe drop the price. Thats what I'd do.

Mr_Bo11ox
I don't think the mini connection is going to add any value to this, does it have any BMC content at all still? Whats the rear suspension like? Presumably the BMC-engined ones have a mini subframe. I think eBaying it in MOT'd, drive-home nick would still raise £800-900 or so. wuvvum
There's actually very little BL content - front suspension is struts and coils, rear is independent with a transverse composite leaf spring. But then there's plenty of Issigonis Minis out there modified with coilovers and Honda VTEC engines which seem to fetch daft money.
trigger
Seeing as a tidy Citroen Visa only made £400 the other day at the ACA then i don't think this will be much better, It's a little bit obscure but not quirky and old enough to arouse most peoples interests, Some nice photos and ebay is probably the best bet really.
wuvvum
Aye, but the Visa wouldn't start. Plus they sold it with about 30 seconds' notice so the people who were actually interested in it (who were still stood around it trying to get it going) didn't manage to get to the hall in time to bid. Agree though that it's a bit obscure and the pool of potential buyers therefore probably fairly limited. I'll probably try it on C&C for a bit ('cos it's free) around the high three figures mark, then if no luck there I'll find a way of getting it on eBay and hope that there are two (or more) people out there in eBayland who really want it... trigger

BorniteIdentity
Smashing. I had no ideas about these until the other week. Just seen SL's pic on FLICKR of the car and it looks great. I'd have thought you're looking at a minimum of £800 with the MOT etc. Maybe £1000 isn't unachievable. I'll happily list it on eBay if you take some decent pictures and a nice write up? I can then legitimately say "selling for a m9". Felly Magic, wuvvum and somewhatfoolish

cort16
Having just had a look through carandclassic's if you put it on there for around 1000 then you'd be in the unusual position of having a vehicle priced within the bounds of sanity. Example http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C863178Therefore I recommend you list it for £49,245.19p

wuvvum
Now on C&C. No interest thus far but I'm not expecting a flurry for this, being as obscure as it is.
