Need I ask?

Five years ago I made an off the cuff remark about an E21 BMW 320 that a mate was working on, fast forward to today and he calls me up and offers it me for fifty quid-obviously my reaction was "Fuck yeah!"

Its a late one so I reckon its about 1980-82 but its an auto so its a cruiser, would've shit meself if he told me it were were manual. Its done 51,000 miles from new and has been really well maintained mechanically but the body is a bit ropey-I've seen worse though and the grot could be easily sorted with a dab of weld and a splodge of wag. It does mis-fire on part-load though which may be a ball-ache that I don't need however when it does drive normally it is really very smooth and the interior is really solid. It also pisses in water through the front screen and the lower rear screen frame in the boot has rotten away but the whole car looks presentable-it doesn't look like a shite-heap.

Colour is a bit odd, not quite bronze and not gold. I have first refusal but if I don't want it then it'll be broken up and scrapped

My problem is that I already have six cars and I have to rent spaces so if I can't get another space its a no-go. Second issue for me is that I may be spreading myself too thinly with regards to work on each car-I don't do enough as it is without another car.

I do really like E21s, I already have an E30 and an E36 though.

Opinions?

Mine used to piss in through the front screen, into the glovebox. Also kept oiling up one of the plugs. Burned oil like a bastard, but when booted it used to squat its arse and shift like fury.

WOW, like holy shitola I wasn't expecting all these comments! I'm thrilled that you all really like it. I had a 323i some years back but only for a few days ( ) and I don't know if its just this one but I had forgotten just how well they are screwed together-I mean bits of trim etc, its all rock solid inside and the brucie bone-arse is the original Pioneer radio casette-proper twee. Its not metallic brown its a bit odd, its like a bronze colour with a hint of green almost, hides the rust well spose. Wheel trims are fuckin 'orrible, luckily the original 'beauty rings' are in the boot-remember them from MGs/Capris etc? just steel rings that fit over the rim of your boggo steelie and hang a mo..is that a new set of wheels you've got? no its four pieces of steel hung around the rim. Have seen a set of original 1970s 15" Alpina wheels on the bay for approx £800, its a shed loada muller and I haven't got the cash but this would look so nice on them-one of those cars that is totally transformed with a nice tastefull set of wheels methinks.Re:the misfire, as its a carb I don't suppose there is an awfull lot it could be unlike on these modern 'fuel injected' motor vehicles with their electric windows...meh!
