You would be better off sending it to some one like ECUTesting .They would confirm your fault and repair your unit . scaryoldcortina Posted March 29, 2017 Share Posted March 29, 2017 ECU is coded to the keys, you can diy it IF the ecu comes with at least two keys. If not you need either tech2000 or a licenced copy of forscan. Erratic temp gauge might be the clocks starting to misbehave, which is actually more common, they are plug and play so get a £10 scrapyard set and change them first. Pretty sure that era of ford used the cyl head sensor as a backup/ early warning device but still had a normal wet sensor .
