I've got too many projects on the go at the moment- so last in, first out.

This is your chance to outclass Junkman with his common as muck Jaguar;)

Located near Glasgow, can collect the the lucky* winner from plane train or bus station as required

1992 Daimler 4.0 Sovereign.

Mot til June 2017

Good-

Drives really well,

Engine starts and runs well with good oil pressure.

Seems solid underneath (compared to other xj40s I've had)

109k miles

3 keys and handbooks etc

PLAS- pickernick tables of much awesome in the back

Bad

Front wings ropey

Sunroof panel rusty- spare clean panel provided

A fair lot of lacquer peel on several panels

Blower does not work

Central locking doesn't work

Small leak from autobox

Fuel leak - looks to be from fuel filter area

Interior veneer poor in places

Will likely need pads soon

It starts and runs no problem, and can be driven away.

Roll up roll up!

A note for anyone on the fence: I've been blown away by how good the Jag is. It's probably the nicest method of transport I've ever used. The ride is sublime, the seats beautifully comfortable, and even the economy is acceptable provided you never find the 'sport' button under the gear shifter. You should find that button though, because the engine in these is a lot of fun. You should also jump at the chance of winning this car for less than the price of 801 Fruit Salad chews.

A very fair appraisal:) you certainly seemed to be enjoying the one of dubious numberplatery:)

My word, an actual unrusty sunroof panel! Not often you see one of those!  Replacing the sunroof panel is an easy and fairly quick job on the XJ40. To remove the old panel, open the sunroof far enough that you can see the (?5) screws which hold the panel onto the car on the front of the panel, facing the front of the car. Move the sunroof forward a bit so it is a couple of inches from being closed and lift the panel up at the front and pull/slide it forward. There will be some resistance felt from the rubber seal, but it will come out! Putting in the replacement is the reverse of this. It isn't difficult, if somewhat nerve wracking about scratching the paint on the roof. If you don't repaint this one, it will look dark against the red paint like one of those fancy smoked glass ones! Cool and on a budget! Does the blower work on defrost but not at other speeds? - That's a common failure and is generally caused by faulty Darlington resistors on the blower motors.
