Dave_Q
I like how the OBC screen with 15.9mpg is in there like that's an achievement.I know that's nearly 20mpg in UK gallons but still not great. Would though (if it wasn't my money or fuel bill)

Rod/b
Isuzu D-Max or a Ford Ranger are the most likely choices though right? I like the Ranger Wildtrack, was sorely tempted to buy one this time last year, but really don't need a truck.
Timewaster
Rangers on the work fleet haven't been too bad for reliability. Although of the three that regularly tow heavy stuff, two are on their second engine. 14 and 15 reg. Both oil pumps gave up without warning and predictable results. nacho man
PhilA
Guy at work uses his F150 to tow with, on average it returns about 25ukmpg on the flat when towing and close to 35 when just pootling about. The Ecoboost V6 isn't bad, they're comfy but the turning circle would make the QE2 blush. Phil

PhilA
Yeah, it's an improvement over the V8 one he had of the last model series, that would do about 12 US towing, 16 around town.

cort1977
Phila's mileage figures are likely in freedom gallons not your limey crap. nacho man
Yo crew have a few more snippets of activity. First up a jcb groundhog that turned left. Turning right did nothing. Bummer. Steering rack is bollocksed. Probably been stunt jumped on site while trying to tow a 10t trailer or something. The usual. £726+ vat Yeah will ring you back mate. Don't need it for a while anyway. Did have a picture of the offending article but god knows where that has gone. Remember the old defender that had no oil in the transfer box. Well we took it on a mega long drive and it's got a bit of a rumble/pretty loud noise but seems okay ish for now. There was lots and lots and lots and lots of filings and chunks of metal that came out when we had a peep in side to change the oil again. Oh oh. Looks like it will need one soon. Very soon. Next up was a vivaro sump change. We have three of them and they have all needed a sump. They just rust through. Also He is for sure a c@#t. But yeah, it does average 21US towing a trailer, saw the screen when he got back from Mississippi. Found out hard to believe but at a constant speed (he says about 55) it does do very well. I think factory it's rated at 24US epa average.
nacho man
Not much on this week with jobs that make actual money. So I took myself of to the workshop. First off was this. The gaffers father in laws, it needed a mot. Also because of the wheelchair access the exhaust is modified and when it turned up it sounded like a right Barry boy special. Look at the state of that, some garage had butchered a side exit as they couldn't be arsed to sort the system out properly. When the old boy took it back to say it was too loud they told him it would be £500 to make a new exhaust for them. I tried to get hold of the converters to see what they used as the wheelchair lift drops into the boot floor so would of had a special exhaust made as an original berlingo one won't fit. But they was no use saying they didn't know. So I cut the new middle section up and purchased another middle section, cut and welded them together, so then we had two silencers in the middle. Here it is first off, just needed a hanger welding on in the middle and now its whisper quiet and sits perfect. Still got a side exit but purchased a new 90 bend and some new hangers so it's all nice and neat. Still side exit though. Because race car. Never had a proper drive in one of these, it was a 1.4 pez with only 39k in the clock. Drove ace I thought. This next Radiator swap on a 230k 3.0 dizzler iveco. Every single fastening was rusted. Was great fun. Proper pile of shit. Every job is a fuck on. In the week we got this running to sell on, it's just not used no more. It's got a lovely 6cyl Volvo td100 engine. Probably going to try and punt it on at a plant auction. Got it on eBay but I don't suppose there in massive demand second hand. One of the lads inherited this so we have been joy riding it about. It's gone into a mechanic a few units down to get it all tip top as been in a actually barn for a good few years. nacho man
Afternoon crew Been quiet on the proper works front so been in the workshop. First off was some A1 body repairs. “Apparently” he was only doing 10mph when he ran into someone. The naked shot Then the finished article All in for £110 from eBay. I had never done the discs and pads on a newer transit. To me they seem a stupid idea. I knackered one wheel bearing one side getting it all off. This was a 2009 fwd transit. Then we had a 2008 rwd transit. It needed a crank pulley as it had broken up, ended up replacing a idler and a tensioner and the viscous clutch as they all seemed really rough. While we was getting the pulley off my mate was sat in the van with it in 5th and he stomped on the brakes as well and the pedal sank to the floor and a pipe running from the master cylinder to the abs pump had popped, it was rusty (surprise surprise). Decided to do both while we was at it. There a bigger bore than normal brake pipe so ordered two from for was about £60 ish. Next we decided to have a look at the rust, yeah there was some rust alright. Took friggin ages to plate it all up. Splashed about 300ltrs of underseal on afterwards. That’s all for today. nacho man
Getting quiet now as Xmas is coming so been tossing it off really. “Right lads all the vans are having discs and pads” Had this for a two weeks. It’s a 740e so a 2.0 twin turbo Petrol and a electric motor. It’s come straight from bmw so had some mega nice options. Like just two rear seats that are heated, electric and have massage options, big screen in the rear of the seats and a console in the middle with all the media and climate controls. It’s 300odd Bhp so it ain’t sluggish and it can roll around town in full electric mode. The fella who dropped it off said it can do 130odd mpg. Yeah okay mate. We have been getting mid 30’s. Because that’s been here has meant I have been using this x6 all week. It’s a massive ugly thing and I fell like Eminem driving it. Added bonus. Here is a picture of one of our cats with here mane in show.
