23Nm for 16v, 10Nm for others.

That doesn't look right.....10Nm is only just over 7lbs/ft....are the units right?

Or are those base figures then remainder by degrees of rotation.

I've got a data book but it only goes up to about 1986....

I'd just nip it up till it feels snug. But then what do I know? I fit bigends the same way and never had an issue on extensively trashed afterwards engines.

Figs from Autodata 2011 given in Nm only no mention of degrees or anything else.. From memory, it mentioned about 4 different 16v 1.6 engines all 23Nm, one 1.6 at 10Nm. 10 sounded low to me but probably a small brass, alloy or similar thread.
