Sam, I don't think you need the steering wheel off to get the indicator stalk out, just make sure the wheel is turned away a bit so you don't break the tab on the new one putting it back in!

Hahahaha - there's definitely a joke in there about how they knew where they'd end up

It really was a game changer in safety terms though.  I've seen a few really badly fucked up ones in scrap yards that looked almost perfect inside (bar the bags)

I'll give it a go on the old one, not taken the wheel off yet, but have the air bag off so I can see.

Wish they'd told me they were towing it, I'd have secured the front bumper with more than 2 cable ties... And tweaked the rear wheel nuts up... Still, their problem now. The guy was quite surprised he turned up and I already had it running and ready to go!

I'm a 1 laguna man again now! Watch it shit itself next week... Also, just realised I'm a bit of a wally got buying a hatchback, where will I sleep at shitefest now! Best check it out next year and see if I need to buy a tent

I gave it a 9 month extension from you probably scrapping it/part exchanging it and them scrapping it!

Do feel a bit sad now, because cars have feelings too...

I didn't look too much as I would have been sad, but there was a lovely pogweaseled corsa B there, tidy looking focus and the fiesta.. My car was probably the worst condition of them all.

ASM do strip cars, so bits will be saved before their baled. The guy collecting it said well done for stripping it first as I'd have got fuck all for it whole, and thanks for removing the handbrake as that's one less thing for him to worry about when towing it!

Aren't those Fiestas the last of the 5 digit milometers? I.e. gone round once and then sold to someone who don't use it much.

Or was attempted to be sold but too many messers when selling meant family couldn't be bothered to sell it.

I have a rhythmic bouncing on idle! Noticed it the other day, and it did it again tonight. The car just sort of bobs up and down a bit...

Pointers so far, in order of scariness include:

Engine mount
Gearbox mount
Injectors
Other random stuff
Dmf

Will worry about it after christmas/when it explodes I think!

I'd add dirty throttle body to the top of the list. Then second down EGR. These love a good EGR scrub. Reputed to be what kills the turbos on these.

Someone last night on the renault fb group, amongst the sea of OMGDMF (who then got a bit shitty when I said that it would be driven until it exploded then c u l8r'd) suggested something fuel related, dirty injector or summat, and I experimented by raising the revs a bit, all gone! Even a fraction of an increase stops it.

Could be just in need of a nice service

That's fairly top of my list anyway, it's misting oil from the egr seal, and chuffs smoke out of the black bottle that holds the dipstick when the top breather is removed. Have 2 cans of brake cleaner waiting for me to get round to it, it has a blocked breather somewhere
