flat4alfa
it's just whether i can be arsed to get up early to drive over 2 hours to get there before 10am You could always book an overnight stay in the Lenny Henry Inn at Whittlebury (or similar) for 50 notes. To break-up the bother. The night before could be an event in itself if enough parties join in I would offer my spare room (and still would if it helps) but the whole house has fallen to bits since you fetched that Acclaim alcyonecorporation and trigger
Guest Breadvan72
They accepted my SD1 for the ooh err posh bit last year, but I biffed. The Dolly was supposed to be at a Pistonheads fast car do at Donnington, but I biffed that also. The Roverdaytona is not concours, but can be faked up to look shinaaay. Ditto the Dolly. Chodpark obvs more fun. The Granny would go well there, esp if parked close to the bASe. Beko, consider yourself volunteered for some form of heap driveage on the day. Everyone should rock up at the show and then go over to Six-Cylinder's place (which is v near by) in order to ponce all his biscuits and kick all his tyres (although doing the latter would take a week or so). BorniteIdentity
I think there is some AUTOSHITE signage somewhere amirite? Last year, the SAAB guys formed an informal club stand in one area of the chodpark and it worked quite well. It'd be nice to stick together without being a clique. beko1987

trigger
Well I've emailed a application form for the Dolomite, does anyone know how long until you find out if your successful? I'm also going to book a room at a Travelodge near Silverstone as a couple of mates want to come along in their cars too. flat4alfa
Six-cylinder
I believe registering is just for those who want their cars judged. To visit and watch the spectacle like I did last year just turn up on the day. Uncle Jimmy, strangeangel, RichardK and 3 others

Angrydicky
This is an extremely good event - one of my favourites in fact. I wouldn't have thought it necessary to break the journey Trig, it's only a couple of hours each way. Dunno what I'll be bringing this year, but whatever it is, it'll be in the chod park. trigger

quicksilver
Sounds like this has the makings of a mini-Shitefest. I hope the bASe does make an appearance as it would fit in perfectly* with such genteel surroundings. Entry form for the Maxi of gifferness has been submitted and decisions will be communicated in late June apparently. Oh and I can confirm BV is right, Stowe School boys are a bit Tim Nice-But-Dim but without so much of the Nice. trigger and beko1987
beko1987
Will happily drive the SD1 to this! It's such a lovely thing to drive, feels pretty much like the Xantia actually, slightly notch gearchange and the brakes need more of a prod than you think, but it all becomes easy after a while! wuvvum
Maybe we could organise some kind of a shite relay to drive the entire Breadbin and 6 Cylinder fleets down there. flat4alfa, Six-cylinder and beko1987

Guest Breadvan72
The calipers on my SD1 may be a bit tired. The brakes on Skizzer's SD1 are moar betterer. I ony have two chodes that work at present (SD1 and Dolomite), three if the Granny is still around in July. My XJS will not be fixed by then, and I have sold the other old heaps that I had last year. Six-cylinder
Maybe we could organise some kind of a shite relay to drive the entire Breadbin and 6 Cylinder fleets down there. "ENTIRE" now that is a strong word! It would be a wheeze to have a convoy of fellow Autoshiters taking my cars over there - but we would have to leave out the broken ones, the 'hard to get out' set, those without MOT etc. and some of my cars are not Unexceptional... so I would say a "SELECTION" might be a better description! But yes, up for that if folk want to have a go. I have to say it would be fun. Mrs 6C and I did get married at Stowe and we and most of our guests did the Footman James Classic Run to Silverstone afterwards, for what used to be the Coy's Festival there, as part of our celebration! The 'Wedding Guests Only' sign you see on my garage door was from our stand at Silverstone. It was a rather good day in many ways.

Guest Breadvan72
Last year not one but a whole two of my skankin' hapes were accepted into Le Concours de Bollogues at this event. I took neither. Because miserable git. This year: DENIED! I might still go and park up with all the choddists. EDIT after checking date: But I can't, because Berlin. Oh well. Six-cylinder
Not really surprising with the cars you have, how can you call a Rover SDi or Dolomite Sprint Unexceptional!
Guest Breadvan72
SD1. There is no such thing as an SDi. Specialist Division 1. Some insiders called it Solihull Drawing-Office 1. Mine is a non V8 SD1, and so maybe a tad unexceptional. A Sprint is a spiced up version of a staid car.
quicksilver
Maxi was denied too They must have some pretty special stuff entered to reject an all-original low-mileage Maxi. It's no biggie though as rejected entrants get a VIP pass to the classic car park and not being in the concours makes things easier. The 1990 age limit on the classic parking seems a bit restrictive though as a lot of interesting post-1990 stuff will probably end up with the modern rubbish in the public car park. In previous years there's been one car park that was a free for all but the unexceptionals and moderns naturally separated themselves.
