I love these and am currently on numbers 7 & 8, a standard 1.8 in the same blue as your new steed ( but without the tea tray on the boot ) and a purple vvc that I bought unseen in London for £225. Both are great and the vvc really does shift. Don't worry about shit area of Leeds as I bought one from possibly the worst council estate in that fair city and just left it running while checking the car and paperwork at leisure, an hour later it hadn't overheated although it almost ran out of petrol. Once you get it on a few country roads I am sure you will find that it earns a home within your fleet and if not just hold onto it until summer and the fine weather plus all the recent articles about these in the classic press mean you will certainly get your money back.

*If however you leave Leeds in a cloud of steam I would be interested in some body panels as spares*

Excellent stuff! I have met djimbob and he is a very nice fellow and owner of some arrestingly fine chod over the years. He really should start a thread on it!

Why thank you MR, my technological skillz tend to let me down with the posting of pictures, but one of these fine days I shall pull my finger out and get a thread done documenting some of my more ridiculous motors over the years - my cousin Strangeangel no doubt has some pics of said chod kicking round, with the abilities of the digital age I lack, so his input will be most welcome :-D

PHEW!!!!!

I owe djimbob many beers.  He went to get the car, found the head gasket to be borked, and, after a quick confab with me on the phone, made his excuses and left.  I said that I would resolve any beef with the seller, but the bloke immediately went onto the eBay resolution centre and asked to cancel the sale.  I clicked yes, and all is well.  So fair play to the seller for not being an arse about it.

Bullet dodged, and millions of thanks to djimbob.

"Outstanding, Red Team, outstanding!  Get you a case of beer for that one."

Appearances can be deceptive of course, and non truer than when it is a K Series under the hood, BUT, that sure looks a nice motor for less than 3/4 of a bag.   No MOT hits-story chekin undertaken to change opinion.

GLWTC

Look forward to the write up.  One day I might have the sphericals to buy a car unseen, you guys are at it all the time WCPGW

Ohh no, I jinxzed it before you even hit the Shisser Strasse, big soz about that.  You should have knocked him down to half a bag and got your spannerzout, OMGHGF to fixed for half a score.

I was looking forward to tales of a minter for minimal euros

If I had not already too many cars, and if the car had been closer, and if not for the risk of spousal displeasure, I would have haggled the price down and got the gasket fixed, but in the circs I couldn't be taking on all the faff.

djimbob says that in other respects the car seemed good.  The seller really needs it gone, so if anyone wants to step in and get the car for buttons, go for it!.

Or better still log out of eBay when in drink, boring but much safer. (This only applies to other people not to me)

Pay attention, double oh seven.  I got pissed AFTER clicking the bid button.  Maybe to drown my guilt and sorrow.  The batty thing is that I was sober when I went eBay crazy.

What's the problem? There's a decent enough Peugeot TUD 1.5 engine in a shagged-out Pug 106 in Malhamdale...? ;-)

I am very glad I didn't pick it up as it would've been an absolute arse getting back to mine from there without a car. I think I might owe djimbob a couple of beers too for offering his services as up to that point it was looking like it was going to be me that was doing it.

Phew for me and phew for thee.
