Volksy
I did a long trip the other weekend, over to Manchester early doors, then down to Stoke to visit freinds and kids back home then over to my Sisters. The Volvo performed impecably as it has done for the last 1000 miles... Until..I Got in it the next day...Sat in it in traffic i notice blue smoke wafting past the car, couldn't be coming from mine i thought, checked the mirrors and low and behold it was. Pulled over and checked the oil - wasn't even registering on the dipstick It does drip oil when parked up, but I topped it up before the trip. Half a Litre as it was halfway down the stick. I had some oil in the boot, so topped it up there and then, which brought it up to the 'Min' level. and went to the nearest petrol station and topped it up some more. Now the strange bit, it only smokes after going round a sharp left hand corner/bend, I'm presuming as the leak seems to be coming from the bottom of the intercooler the Turbos shafted. and its pumping its oil into that, and then burning it off as it passes into the engine.Either way it looks like its gonna be a big bill. Its a Low pressure turbo, which for all accounts are pretty rare, certainly in comparison to a T5.B@llsacks
r.welfare
Not rocker cover gasket, or even (shudder) headgasket? Oil can travel a long way from the leak source before it hits the ground, and/or something it can burn off.Feel your pain on this, as I've just handed the keys and V5 for my trusty white 405TD saloon to the scrapman after the HG split at the point where the oil feed goes from the block to the head. It was losing about 1/2 a litre a day, and with an Autodata labour time of 9.3 hours it just ain't economic to have done.

Volksy
Turbo is now fitted, wasn't actually that bad to do, given its location down the back of the engine. Although the parts place did send me the wrong turbo, so ended up making a hybrid one using my old ones exhaust housing.Did it at a mates workshop, and actually enjoyed being back on the spanners for a morning. So the smoke seems to have cleared, and hopefully it will stop it pissing oil all over my carpark!
