Ex taxi and 5 digit odometer. Wonder what number you can add to the front of the 80-odd k on the current MOT.

I've never took photos of it but I did mean too. All the time I've been on here I intended to but kept slipping my mind. Fair play to Mr B for bringing it here. Keep an eye out for a fat balding fella in a little black citroen Mr bollocks round that area as it will be me!

Need to set a reminder for July 2017 to see what happens next. I'd love to do a no expense spared resto on it!!!
At a garage I used to work at we had a triumph 2000 that every mot it would fail on welding. The car was hanging but he would never let it go. We welded plate on plate. I was a young apprentice at the time and didn't know any different. I feel guilty now that we never did it properly. We must have properly stitched him up over the years. The registration was SDM or N and was on an M plate. Always wondered what happened to it. As l then went to a garage that taught me the right way to do things.

I would leave a note on window but I doubt he has a computer to come here nor would he sell it. Probably be buried in it! Is it too far gone to be saved?

I like to think there is an old fence post U-bolted up under that Cortina, all covered in black underseal.    We should hand out little milk-bottle top Shite Medals to people driving stuff like this.

Holy crap, that's a spot and a half! I've seen better looking Cortinas on the oval. How the actual fuck is it still (sort of) in one piece? The underseal must be the only thing holding it together.

Right, Monday morning I'm ringing up the MOT place in Somercotes and booking the Rancho in for Wednesday.

WCPGW.

No need to take the car.  Looks like they'd test it over the phone WILE U W8 M8.

I've seen it in action. Very wobbly and doesn't drive in a straight line. Back end keeps trying to push out. Smells awful too

That 'Tina needs grade 1 listing. Old houses start to go saggy with wonky windows, and they become protected. The same should happen for this fine example of survival against all odds.
Someone needs to get a video of it in action, pogo effect n'all.

I've just spent ages finding this http://autoshite.com...by-chic-farina/ , which the Cortina reminded me of.

Picture007-3.jpg

Unlike the Cortina this one was several years out of MOT at the time of spotting.

I think this would be too shonky even for a collective AS purchase.

I bet it's roofing felt that the underneath is repered with, with a big mlerm of hot tar to seal it all up.

The poor thing, it reminds me very much of one of those guilt trip adverts on TV where they want you to send money to look after mistreated donkeys.
"For just two pounds a month this poor Cortina will get a drop of oil to soothe its rattling camshaft, five pounds will see it treated to some bitumastic paint to cover its scarred undercarriage. Remember, all your donations go directly towards helping these poor cars and educating their owners how to care for them"

Christ on a bike, that is impressive. How many extra sheets of steel have been pop-rivetted on to that thing over the decades? The back end is due to the massive amounts of P38 tins it has gone through.
