phil_lihp Posted March 16, 2017 Share Posted March 16, 2017 I am surprised, they're not bad cars really and I say that as someone with an intense dislike of modern Peugeots, although that mostly comes from a traumatic 6 months with a 307 a few years ago. 206 CCs look OK, don't seem to have a terrible reputation for reliability and have a clever roof. The car could be insured, but could not be taxed until it has an MoT. As at today, it would fail an MoT for worn brakes and some other matters (minor ones). My mech, who used to be a tester, says that he would have failed it on brakes, but he is not sure (without checking further) about the exhaust blow. It would be legal for a buyer to buy the car and drive it to a garage for pre-booked repairs, or to a pre-booked test. IAAL but IANYL, and all that. A recap of the fixage stuff: - the car needs front discs, so you might as well do the pads too. The car will soon need rear discs, so you might as well do those, and the rear pads too, which are already low. The brake parts for these are cheapo online. - The car may or may not need a new bit of exhaust, or a repair to an exhaust section. The rear section looks rusty anyway. Exhausts for these cars are cheapo online. - The car needs new wiper blades, and a couple of bulbs. When I last drove the car I could tell that the brakes were past their best, but it still goes and stops, and could be driven with caution to get it fixed. If the buyer wishes, I could arrange for my mobile mech to do the fixing here at my place. He is pretty reasonable on prices, and can get the parts using his trade account. Or the buyer could drive it off or stick it on a trailer if planning to do the work him or herself or to get it done local to him/her.
