I love how LBC, having been enticed in here from PH after he rashly gave me a Beemer, and despite being a sensible and well balanced person who drives sensible modern cars, is slowly being sucked into the spiral of chaos and self harm that is Autoshite.  Soon we'll have him rocking out in a Montego or some fucking appalling Citroen.  Autoshite is just like crack, only with worse wheel trims.

I've already had a terrible Visa so I've done my share of crap Citroens**. I hate Renaults with a passion (other than a 16 - they're ace) and after having not one but two Montegos as company cars, which were bloody awful even when new, I'd not thank you for another.

All that said, you might be right. I think I'm coming down with something , 'cos I sort of fancy a perfectly-preserved Renault 25, purely because of the "John's with me, Ian's with me, and we've got the backing" advert, and even more specifically 'cos Rosalyn Landor was such a hottie, albeit somewhat Dianaesque of coiffeur.

**For balance, I also had a remarkably nice - albeit slooooow - BX19RD

There have been a couple of 25s for sale recently, although the sellers appeared to think that Ms Landor was still sitting butt nekkid in the cars given the prices they were asking.  Hit the 'Bay, dude.

Nah, it'd have to be mintier than Trebor's finest and totes reliable. Since such a Renna Vingt Cinq never existed (even straight off the production line), it'd be a fool's quest to try to find one now.

Plus I drove an almost-new 25 Turbo in 1990 (I think - one of the directors had it as a company car) and wasn't all that impressed. Comfy but I didn't like it very much, I regret to say. Can't think it'd have improved with age.

Probably not, but hopefully your aesthetic sensibility has.

I was just working through some man maths. As I need a 6/7 seater and this has four seats if I buy two tickets.

Well that's like 4 x 2 = 8

So one more for me please

I have omitted previously to mention that the plastic wheel arch liner from the front offside has been taken out, to enable access to change the alternator belt (this was done a few weeks ago).  The liner is in the boot of the car.  It can be refitted with only mild levels of swearing, or so I believe.

If this means that anyone wants to cancel their ticket, let me know, but I hope not!

My wife saw this over my shoulder earlier and really liked it, I ran it through go compare and it came out crazy high (higher than a 3.0 BMW), put it through for my mums postcode and it was a third of the price. Wtf? I can't imagine Tamworth is a hot spot for 206cc theft.

Don't suppose anyone knows any classic insurers that would touch this do they?

On the basis that I really, really don't want to win this (no worries, I've not won a thing on here ever), your latest tale of additional undesirability about le chariot de coiffeuse doesn't really make things any worse.

On the off chance that I do win, how much do I have to pay you to keep it?

I have just noticed that I was wrong about the tyres on this car.  The front tyres are Pirellis.  The slightly wider rear tyres (it is standard for the rears on these to be wider, than the fronts) are Maxxis.

So the non-driving wheels get the wider tyres?

Logic fail to the max.

I know, it's weird, but seems normo on these cars, and may even be the handbook spec, but I CBA to check.  It may be done purely for looks.

Anyway, car now worth LOTS more because of sportezza front tyres instead of mid range meh brand.

Maybe it was done for stability reasons? I remember reading somewhere that the Smart car has smaller wheels up front to cause it more likely to understeer when performing sharp, violent turns than fall over. Diamler were pretty scarred from the elk test fiasco of the Mercedes A-class.
