2MB
Thanks for all the replies. They echo what's been going around in my head really. It was my little lad's first birthday today and it was put into perspective a bit that now isn't really the time for running round after cars for no logical reason. Even getting the 405 for £900 would be spending money better put to use elsewhere. Can always rely on the members of this forum for sound advice and for that I am thankful. Lacquer Peel
407s are vile. Can't believe they're being referred to in the same breath as the 405. forddeliveryboy
2MB
Aye, any comparison of their values is kinda irrelevant. 407s don't run on beg and can't be insured as classics, so are a very different ownership prospect
stripped fred
Also, personally I prefer a standard car. Makes it easier to insure too.
2MB
I'm no expert, but I thought the only non-gtx spec bits on that 405 are the wheels and sport stripe? The bumpers look the same as the ones on other gtx models on google
BorniteIdentity
I've been a passenger in a 407 pez and thought it was lovely... Very smooth. I'd imagine it's easier to live with too, but that's not what turns any of us on. Prices won't a lot lower. That'd be my primary motivation for buying now. EssDeeWon
A lookalike + 300 miles away + on ebay + a grand = Nah! Nope, give em the silent treatment and they'll probably call you next week begging you to buy it. The world has had a chance to buy this car this week and it made £880, not £1000. Mending my own cars is something I try to limit to a minimum, 'easy to live with' comes pretty high up the wishlist. BorniteIdentity

I travelled in one with the heating stuck on in near-40C heat in central Europe. BAD CAR.
hpi_matrix
Working air-con and Bosh pump! This would be my perfect daily. However I see two issues: A) Mot says: front Subframe mounting prescribed area is distorted (WTF does this mean?!), this alone would make me run unless the seller has an explanation and pics. B ) £880 is a fine price, why is he haggling over £120.
